Spring Homesteading Fair

Stop by the Spring Homesteading Fair to learn about local food!

(Note: I copied this from the Colorado Springs Urban Homesteading group. My business, Hungry Chicken Homestead, will be at this fair!)

Good Earth Garden Center and Easter Egg Acres have joined forces once again to bring you the Spring Homestead Fair!

This is an all day, FREE family event. The cutest Nigerian in the world, Penelope from No Goats No Glory, will be there to chew on all your informative brochures. There will also be other goats, baby bunnies, chickens and probably a duck or two for the kids to visit with.

Even tho this is Colorado and our weather patterns can change in a minute, you can still count on being comfy during this event-it's inside a large greenhouse

Easter Egg Acres will be doing the goat milking Demonstrations at 9 am and 3:30 pm. They will also have the chicken processing equipment and photo poster board for you to review. They will be making a sign up list to contact people interested in taking the processing class later this fall at their farm. They will have lots of fresh goat milk to try, maybe even something new like drinkable yogurt. If we are lucky one of their brand new baby goats will have to come with them for it's bottle feeding.

Bee Keeping- Christine Faith from Right to Thrive will answer all your questions about keeping bees, the equipment needed and how to properly care for them and the challenges you may face to get home grown honey.

Buckley's Homestead Supply will be there too with lots of information on classes and homesteading supplies to aid in making soaps, cheeses and all of your canning needs.

Revolutionmama Ranch will bring some of her amazing stock of rare antiquity breed chickens. She's hoping to have chicks to sell too! You can not get this quality of bird at the feed store, promise.

Bonnie from Hungry Chicken Homestead will be on hand with home produced canned goods and will offer information on how to make them yourself. She teaches canning and fermenting classes, and helps you find locally grown food to preserve.

Li'l Bit Farms will be bringing their wonderful soaps, lip balms and lotions this time and offering a basket of body products for the give away! They will also have information on their up and coming available poultry meats, and hopefully fresh eggs too!

The Colorado Farm and Art Market will have a booth to let us know about up and coming markets that will be held this summer at Ivywild School and others locations.

The folks of Folkways Farm like to keep their hands busy and their feet dirty. Home of Colorado Cob Company and Bloom Daisy Design, stop by their booth to talk about upcoming natural building projects and lend support to the future of Folkways by perusing their handcrafted creations

Patricia & Roy Amenic will be there to teach you all about backyard rabbits as a sustainable meat source for your family. They will discuss housing, feeding, breeding and processing. They will even talk about rabbits as great household pets. You will even be able to sample some rabbit recipe item they are going to share.

Vikki Walton will join us again with her new project Havensteader with all kinds of information about her homestead and Permaculture. Kyle, owner of Strong Hold Feed & Supplies LLC. will be share all the different products he carries and delivers to areas all around us including Ellicott and Monument. They offer excellent feed, hay and straw prices with delivery and stacking. Prizes will be kept at Good Earth for pickup after you are notified so be sure to enter a ticket for free stuff. You never know what you might win!
