Help Hobbs Family Farm Harvest Garlic & Shallots

Hobbs Family Farm in Avondale, CO (near Pueblo) is in a bind. They've lost some employees at a critical time and their shallots need to be harvested. They're offering garlic and shallots in exchange for some help on Wednesday morning.

If you're a gardener, this is a prime opportunity to learn how to grow your own garlic from an expert! It's also an opportunity to support your local farms with your hands and feet! Older children are welcome to participate in this educational and communal experience as well.

Participants will need sunscreen, a hat and water.  Please bring good gloves and wear a long sleeve shirt and pants to protect your skin from the sun.  Wear sturdy shoes too.  You can't harvest anything in sandals.

I'll send out directions prior to the volunteer day.  Plan on about an hour of travel time from downtown Colorado Springs.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
