3rd Annual Fathers Day Social Ride and Post Ride Picnic

Fathers Day Social Ride and after ride Social/Picnic.  All riding starts and ends at where we park, Here is the directions/map to Parking, Picnic and Loop Startshttp://binged.it/11opY2U

There are no restrictions on attendance, members and their family/friends are welcome!  What we actually accomplish riding depends on the group, there is a plan but the focus is a good time for all so we may not ride all the loops.  Especially if it gets hot or a thunderstorm pops up!

I can swing back through the parking area to pick up anyone who wants to join on a later loop.  Text me when you arrive and I'll end the loop we are on at the parking area to pick you up, rehydrate and start next loop.  There is opportunity to start and stop riding throughout the morning depending on what you want to ride and how far/long and type of riding.

Trail riding general plan:

Initial Loop - 8am SHARP - Riding up north loops starting on Coyote Run counterclockwise around to top and back down Boulder Run.

Loop 2 - Blackmer Clockwise/Cougars Shadow CCW/Medicine Wheel loop, descent climbing and some Challenging technical sections at top of Blackmer and Cougar's Shadow.  This section has several rough areas.  Medicine Wheel is very rough and can be bypassed for those not wanting to ride it.

Loop 3 - Talon Trails fast paced lots of climbing and long fun descent.  Very little technical, mostly fast and flowy, with lots of elevation gain.

Loop 4 - Sundance trails - some climbing, minor technical, lots of rolling singletrack.  This section is very easy with minimal technical spots and not much climbing.

Picnic officially begins after we have ridden the loops probably around 1pm at the picnic area up the road from the toll gate:  http://binged.it/11opY2U

We will ride for around 4+ hours total and most likely will cover about 20 miles if riding all the loops.  Rehydrating at the parking lot after each loop so I'm not carrying tons of water.  After the ride we will socialize, BBQ and eat until around 4pm.  Last year we got rained out, so the backup plan is to move the BBQ to my house.  There isn't any set limit and whoever wants to join in picnic is welcome.

There is a $7 Per vehicle entry fee to Cheyenne Mountain State Park.

This event is a BYOP (bring your own picnic), I'm going to bring a portable gas grill so we can grill meat.  Bring whatever you and yours want to grill, eat, and drink.  We will socialize from the end of riding to about 4pm.

Sorry, I'm going to have to cancel this time. We're new to the area and did a short ride today to see how we'd fair in the altitude - needless to say we'll have to join you all for a shorter ride or once we've adjusted somewhat. Have fun!

Hey Brian, I'm going to have to bail on tomorrow's ride/barbecue. Am in the middle of a big DIY roof project over my pathetically leaky garage that my son is helping me with tomorrow. (I'll text you a photo.)

Look forward to riding with you again soon!

Making you do property work on Fathers day? ABUSE! I'd file a complaint with those in charge of your schedule!

Brian - I have a 5 gal. cooler from the bike race last year. I could set it up in the parking lot with Gater Aid or water.

Hey that would be nice! I think water would be better, and ice water even better yet!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
