In cool low humid temps I feel I can ride 4 to 6 hours w/o a problem. If it's 95 degrees and humid, I'm out. Technically wise, we have some pretty tuff trails in MO so it's all good. I'm not sure how well I can adapt to the altitude in CO but can't wait to find out.
I have been limited to mostly riding in Missouri. My favorite trails here are Council Bluff, a 440 acre lake 12.5 mile loop. This ride is a mostly up and down around the coves until you climb to the bluffs and the rock garden, from there you decend and go across the dam, pass the campground and more up and down around the coves back to the parking lot. I like Chubb Trail, Lost Valley and Castlewood. If you ever want a tour of MTB in the show me state (Missouri), let me know and I will be happy to give guidance.
Love to ride the Rockies
I cannot say enough about how great this club is, especially Brian Kerkhoff and how well he organizes the rides, makes sure everyone is warmly welcomed to the group, makes sure everyone makes it through the ride okay, posts pictures, etc. For me coming here from St. Louis to ride for the first time outside of Missouri, this club has been a major, major benefit. There is no way I could have come up with this many rides and no way I would have been able to find the trails without Brians help. I came out to CO to do nothing else but ride the trails and with the help of this group it will be a trip that I cannot compare to any other. I think the meetup site is the best thing that has happened to the MTB sport in a long time. Thank you very much.
