"Chicken folk" are so generous with their time, knowledge and expertise. It was so fun to see the variations on a theme. We were so taken with the whole process that we just ordered some more Polish chicks in different colors. We might be persuaded to part with a couple if anyone is interested. Kudos to the organizers for their time!!!

Austin Bluffs and Academy, so east side. But hubs works on the west side, so wherever is good.

Where do you live Tonya? East side or west side?

I didn't get to go because I got really sick ... :( But I recently moved to COS and live in an apartment and was hoping to find a source for eggs. Does anyone on the tour have eggs for sale?

Thank you to all who were participating in the coop tour. We enjoyed all that we had time to see. Everyone made us feel like we have been friends forever, as we do all have something in common

A big thank-you to John Conner for putting together this great event! Christine and I met lots of great folks and had a wonderful weekend being part of this meetup.

Yesterday was why I do this. It is a LOT of work (I'll need more help next year.) and expense (much better covered this year.) It is a community building exercise - Get the connections to people across the area. And I just find it fun to talk about what I'm doing and getting new ideas of directions to go.

Really hospitable folks willing to share their knowledge with no ulterior motives. Thanks for the duck eggs Ben! The goat cheese lady's homestead is a must see as well as Christine Faith's.

Hi, I still don't have maps or addresses?

    May 17, 2013

    • John C

Have you been to the www.takeapeakcooptour.com site. You can view it all there.

      May 17, 2013

  • JoAnn J.

Are there coops that have certain hours? The reason I ask is that I may start at the Black Forest coop and work my way into town, but if some aren't available, I will be wasting time driving there.
    Thanks!

    May 17, 2013

    • John C

JoAnn, Yes,some are only open at certain times, others all day. I'd suggest you pick p a Map and Guid at Buckley's or at 712 N Cedar St. You can view them at www.takeapeaktour.com also. There is a good MapQuest map pointer on the site with hours noted.

Our coop...Plissner...will be open both Sat and Sun afternoon times...it shows Sunday afternoon only but we will be here Sat afternoon as well...we changed our minds and tried to let people know but it didn't get printed...we are east by Powers and Barnes.

      May 17, 2013

  • John C

As I mention in the reply to JoAnn the printed Map and Guide packets are available at Buckley's and at 712 N Cedar St. And on line at www.TakeAPeakCoopTour.com. We are asking for a $5 donation for the printed packet to help with the printing costs - if you can. We're sort of like KRCC we need at least some of the visitors to help support the Tour.

I'm interested in buying some chickens but don't want more than 5, would like to know if anyone on the tour is interested in going in with me?

Tamara, I expect to have some nice Barnevelder chicks in about 3-weeks if you're interested. I'll call you.

      May 15, 2013

    • Tamara F.

Carol, I am interested and that may be better timing. I like the look of the Barnevelder and what I've read about them. Thanks and look forward to hearing from you.

    Update:
The Tour starts at my house - 712 N Cedar (1 blk from Monument and Hancock, near Memorial Hospital). We will have printed Guides with maps available. The maps and guides will also be available at http://takeapeakcooptour.com on Friday May 17.
We've added a second starting point The printed Guides will be available at Buckleys Homestead Supply, 1501 W Colorado Ave. during business hours on Saturday and Sunday. This addition probably won't make it to flyers unless we need to print more. It will be on the web site.

  • Patty M.

My husband & I are in the process of building the inclosure around our coop so it will be nice to see what others have done.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
