Introduction

We have lived in Ivywild for 19 years. Our garden has been a labor of love. We have doubled our garden space over the past couple of years and my husband has terraced the yard and made raised beds. What a difference it has made.

Please take a moment to comment on your experience level with urban homesteading, and your areas of interest. Thank you!

I have been gardening for close to 40 years. Starting in Iowa - where everything grows-to Colorado. I am interested in soil amending, raising chickens, bee-keeping and greenhouses.

What is your ZIP code?

  • Hey Debra, thanks muchly for the offer of help. I had hoped to be able to share the duty with you (didn't want you to feel left out!), but guess you weren't able to get back to Christine last week, so I went ahead and got it done. Thanks a million, though. Check w/Christine to see if she needs other help, if you still need something to do. See ya soon, kiddo!

  • Debra, I'm certainly interested in getting into a herb group. I was actively involved in the Herb Society in San Antonio. I learned so much and met such great people that I really want to get involved here as well. I'm sorry to hear that whoever was doing it is in poor health. She certainly needs to spend her time and energy concentrating on her health.
Anyway, I'd be glad to assist if you need help. Thanks. Vikki

  • Hi Deb! I'd love to, but frankly I cheat! :) I buy the glycerine soap already made and just add my own stuff to it. It's remarkably versitile! Also, I sure wish I were attending the soap making class this weekend, but I'm wait-listed, so I don't think I'll be able to go. :( Ah well. Hopefully we'll do it again.

  • Hi Deb, I completely forgot about the soapmaking class. I've been busy studying for the national CPC exam. I can post a meetup for the soapmaking. I'm just going to say that an immersion blender(available at Target, Ace or Walmart), rubber gloves and safety goggles are mandatory to participate in this class. I believe last year the participants left with 2 lbs of soap. recipes, directions for making soap and some soap samples.
