I started planting food last year, got my 'girls' this April and they are starting to lay, and we're hoping to expand our garden plot to half of the back yard. I have experience with canning and drying food for preservation and have won a couple county awards for pies and jellies. This group sounds great for some other things I'd like to learn - cheesemaking, saving seeds, growing plants suited to the environment, compsting, etc. I'm also blogging off and on about our little backyard farm when I have time to do it!

Hi! I have a small suburban farm with chickens, a large planting plot, multiple raised beds, gooseberry and blueberry bushes, and a cherry tree.
