Happy New Year Web Pros. This meeting announcement is a bit tardy because of the holiday break, and I don't know about you but I'm just getting back in the groove again.
Based on our discussions from the last meeting, we have a bunch of topics to cover this year (view thread). For this Wednesday's meeting, we'll have one primary topic followed by a few shorter topics.
Primary topic: Best Business Practices (for your web business) presented by Karen Dunne, owner and benevolent overlord of Maven Design Studio, and Jeff Walker, owner and maybe less benevolent overlord of Cyber Basement. They will discuss their top ten (or so) commandments for best business operations–call it Business Standards or The Rules of Engagement. This should open up a lively discussion on successes, failures, and lessons learned on a range of topics such as how to structure the business; whether or when to have employees; how to create profitable estimates; best pricing practices; whether to work from home or take on the overhead of a brick and mortar office; identifying ideal clients and when to fire clients; etc.
Secondary topics: We'll have a round table format to share what you've learned lately, what's your favorite tool, and what's your recent focus.
I hope to see you on Wednesday to get our groove going for this prosperous 2014.
