Description: The Gear and Go Tour is a 20-event series intended to help outdoor enthusiasts "plan it, dream it, and do it" with regards to preparing for their outdoor adventures. After stopping at 20 unique retail stores across the country, the Denver REI will be the final stop. The talk will engage audiences with an informative skills clinic (plan it), an inspirational message from No Opportunity Wasted/A3 bar creator and host of Amazing Race, Phil Keoghan (dream it), and a highlight of local trail beta (do it). Each event will begin and end with an interactive "base camp" that will allow you to get in, touch, try on and test out the latest equipment. Presented by Backpacker Ambassadors Patrice and Justin La Vigne, this informative skills clinic will bring the pages of Backpacker to life by covering topics that include trip planning and gear selection. Come hear how special guest Phil Keoghan turned his life into an inspirational reality that will encourage you to grasp onto the concept of "No Opportunity Wasted."

I got a free pair of socks. So did anyone else who wanted them. I wore my Appalachian Trail shirt to the event. I thought it was interesting that the couple from Backpacker Magazine had through hiked the AT in 2011 (I did it in 2008) and the host of Amazing Race is from New Zealand. I plan to begin a through hike of New Zealand's Te Araroa Trail in three weeks. I stayed a bit after the event to meet the three presenters.

I wasn't very impressed, they were very scripted and basically talked about the gear that they are sponsored by. I wish they would have talked more in detail about Garrett self. I like listening to feel though.

I get some free gear to test... but I am always honest about my feelings about it... Columbia sent me a lot.. I had good reports on the some of it.. but after I told them a few changes and thing I did not like - never saw a test item after that... you can't blame them... they have to sell the stuff That is who pays them!!!

even so, if they want people to come back to really takes interest in those products, they need a better presentations. one that really digs deeper into the sport. one talked while the other did the vanna white product show, lol

Sorry I am cancelling. With the govt furlough, I will be at home in Parker instead of driving from work and the traffic is too congested.
