Uncle Bud's Hut
Layout and capacity: Upstairs: 2 private bedrooms, 1 with 6 beds, 1 with 4 beds, and a communal sleeping area with 1 double bed and 4 single beds.
Capacity 16 (I rented all 16 spots).
Hut Location: Uncle Bud's Hut is located just a few miles east of the Continental Divide at 11,380' in the Rocky Mountains of central Colorado, nearest town is the city of Leadville
WHEN: Arriving: Sunday January 5th Returning: Tuesday January 7th
COST: $84 (2 nights hut rental and 2 dinners) – Details are on the form -you need to fill out –
DO NOT PAY UNTIL YOU GET A CONFIRMATION FROM ME THAT YOU ARE ON THE TRIP – Important – we are reviewing all the forms completed prior to putting the members to going. Event organizers have priority due to their hard work over the years putting on trips. After that -deliberation of members will be reviewed. (Remember you can become an Event Organizer) -

How: Snowshoe or XC Ski about 5.9 miles up to Hut - Moderate Trail (UP HILL 5 plus miles)

Waiver and Release: Please Note: Participants attending our trips must sign our Meetup Groups - Terms of Understanding and Signup Sheet. This can be found on the site under: More - Files - Terms of Understanding and Signup Sheet. (I can send it you if requested – you should have read it when you joined as well)
BY COMPLETING THE ONLINE FORMS this will act as your electronic signature & acknowledgment that you have read and understand the Terms of Understanding and Signup Sheet – If you Disagree with any of the terms DO NOT FILL OUT THE FORM (and Drop out of the group as it is required on all trips!)
Why: Because this will be the Craziest group of misfits you will ever have on a hut trip!!! (This is also a warning – lol)
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: What happen at the hut stays at the hut (lol) – actually requirement is to have fun and laugh!
No dogs allowed – a rule of All Huts in the system
Attention: There is NO REFUNDS – The cost is $84 total due (fees of PayPal you must pay) – If you have to drop out – I will assist you and approve a replacements if you can’t go but all money transfers between you and the replacement are to be handled on your own. There is no promise that we will be able to sell your spot and almost no chance if it is close to the time of the trip (we can try but historically it is unlikely we have buyers if it is 2 weeks out or less) DO NOT PAY UNTIL I HAVE EMAILED YOU DO SO, After that you have 3 days to let me know the money is on the way or have paid it!
As the trip organizer, I keep “SAFETY” as number one priority for the group, no exceptions! Please be courteous and considerate to all participants. If you have any concerns please let me know.
As people with different equipment and skills will travel at different speeds, the group could separate at times but we will have planned meet up points to assure everyone is still with us and OK. (We’ll have a better plan once we know everyone’s mode of travel) Ski/snowshoe to the hut.
This is not a beginner hut trip and it is winter travel and you need to be prepared.
Weather / Road conditions may be a problem so be prepared.
We will follow the PACK-IT-IN PACK-IT-OUT LEAVE NO TRACE regulations.
Everyone is responsible for bringing their own FOOD AND DRINKS -Lunches, Breakfast and snacks. (The dinners are included in the price and you will be given a packet to carry (if you chose not to eat with the group – you price of the trip is NOT discounted and you’re still responsible for hauling in your packet of food issued))
Gear essentials: If you don't know what to pack see the email me or go to the 10th mountain huts web site. Beds have mats, all cooking supplies are there, may want to bring your own mug, don’t forget your camera!
The main winter route into Uncle Bud's Cabin follows two Forest Service roads around the north side of Turquoise Lake and up to the hut. The straight forward route finding and steady road grades make for a moderate ski in to this beautiful hut.
