Hike the Lost Creek Wilderness Area: August 10-12/13

Looking for a couple of people to join a friend and me as we take 3 days to explore the Goose Creek/Brookside-McCurdy Loop in the Lost Creek Wilderness Area.
I have only been into Goose Creek for about 6 miles and would like to go all the way around the loop. It will be a leisurely hike with opportunities to climb the nearby rock formations.
We will meet at the Goose Creek Trailhead off of 211, which is a dirt road that is easy to drive on. I have heard that water is scarce on parts of the trail, so don't forget to bring plenty of water bottles. Please feel free to ask questions and I will try to answer them.  If you need to carpool, we can do that as well.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Enjoy late summer on this three-day, 28 mile backpack in the  in the Lost Creek Wilderness. This trek will begin and end at the Goose Creek TH forming a loop upstream along Lost Creek , climbing to McCurdy Park , Hankins Pass and return to Goose Creek TH.   Each day will include 6 to 7.5 miles of walking and upto 2800 ft of climbing (day two)  This trip includes some of the most amazing and unique mountain terrain in Colorado .

    i actually just did this loop - came back from it yesterday...we did it in 3 days. am happy to dispense whatever advice is needed to help you guys.

    it is more like 22 miles, not 28 (if that helps), and clockwise is slightly more difficult than counter-clockwise. if you do the bigger loop which includes the photo above, it is more like 35 miles.

    it is actually a dog-friendly area - dogs should be on leash, though. i had mine on leash and he had a bear bell on just in case, but never saw or heard a single large animal in the bushes regardless.

    and i highly recommend eating at zoka's in pine grove - a delicious first post-backpacking hot meal!

      and as far as water goes, i'd be happy to see if there is a good topo map image online that i can have my way with photoshop-wise. highlighting pre-existing camping sites is also something i can do - my group agreed it was something we wished we had info on as there are tons of places that are not ideal at all and you have to figure out where the next spot is you can make it to.

    I am very familar with the Lost Creek Wilderness areas! Truly, some of the very best backpacking one could enjoy in Colorado. Unfortunately, I will be working that week. However, if in the future, you want to do something on the weekend, please let me know. One note, make sure to bring your Bear Spray. The Bears are not a problem, but they are pretty abundant, and some of the camping sites don't get cleaned up very well from my past experiences. Enjoy!

    Looks like fun and have wanted to do lost creek for some time, unfortunately, I can't take a work week off...need to do long weekends...if you change the dates or have something else planned in that area in a thursday-sunday or friday-monday timeframe, I could possibly do it. have fun!
