Just joined in at Jeff's request to help out with the new recruits. I can't say I am an expert myself, and am rehabbing a blown out knee, but I have been on several backpacks and am anxious to meet some new folks and help out where I can. Anyone from the Denver area interested in carpooling to Pine Junction? I live near 6th and Union and will be driving (at least to Pine Junction). I have a Subaru Outback and could take two in addition to myself. Respond here or email me at [masked].

Nice to meet you, Samuel! Thanks for helping out with our backpacking trip! I don't anticipate breaking any world speed records, so we can use each other as an excuse...

Guilty! Jake and I live in C Springs; I arranged for the day off of work and am planning on driving up early Friday to camp where permitted/available. Do the roads require a high-clearance vehicle? Unfortunately, mine is not...

    August 16, 2012

    • Jeff D.

No the roads are bumpy and washboardie...(if that is a word) but no high clearance... any car can drive on it... no high clearance is necessary!

Someone asked about camping night before - NICE!! - the Goose Creek Campground is VERY CLOSE to the Trail Head... but fills up fast... and it would be a friday... best bet.. take extra water... and disperse camp... there a TON of pull offs on the roads for spots to set up a tent - side note.. a lot of them have no trees... none of them have water (that I know of) - note the longest part of the drive is the last part on the dirt roads where speeds are down... the actual getting to the area is fast and easy...

one of you noted your coming from CO. Sprg. Area... I will have a different instructions for you as if your coming from that way we'll meet you at the trail head... directions will go out later

Dogs are allowed - it is a wilderness area and requires a leash - also see our rules about dogs... Dogs are welcome but must well behaved. :-)

Can't wait. I have a new tent and sleeping bag. Will be the first time camping out in years and years. A perfect start. If my dog is lucky he'll be joining.
