Snowshoe/XC Ski Overnight to Vances Hut - 10th Mount Div. Hut

Snowshoe or Cross Country Ski to Vance’s Hut – (same hut WE did last year)

I already reserved 8 spots - So everyone will have 2 options -

Option # 1 - Sign up on the meetup site for this trip and then send me a check for $30.00. (please mail me the payment within 2 weeks or I will have to remove you from the trip) NO REFUNDS!!!

Option # 2 - Sign up through the 10th Mountain web site.

Attention: Out of consideration for the organizers time & effort in planning this trip, only sign up if you are serious about going and know for sure that you can actually attend.

 - IF YOU M A K E  Y O U R  O W N  R E S E R V A T I O N with the 10th Mountain Division – After that I will need you to EMAIL ME YOUR RESERVATION and then RSVP on the Meetup!

As the trip organizer, I keep “SAFETY” as number one priority for the group, no exceptions! Please be courteous and considerate to all participants. If you have any concerns please let me know. Waiver and Release: Please Note: Participants attending this trip must sign the Colorado Backpackers and Campers Meetup Group - Terms of Understanding and Signup Sheet. This can be found on the site under: More - Files - Terms of Understanding and Signup Sheet.

Required:

Everyone attending this trip is required to send me an email ([masked]) with the following information.

This is so I can easily contact you with planning details or last minute changes.

Name:

Email address:

Cell phone:

RESERVATION #

Skis or Snowshoes:

This email will act as your electronic signature & acknowledgment that you have read and understand the Terms of Understanding and Signup Sheet. If this is not received, I cannot guarantee that you will receive all the trip info including trail head time changes, carpooling info, or other final planning information. If no response to this you may be removed.

DUE TO A COUPLE PEOPLE LAST YEAR THAT TOOK UP RSVP SPOTS BUT NEVER MADE RESERVATION – Policy for this trip is: If you RSVP and Don’t make a Reservation With 10th Mount.Div. may be removed from the group . It is unfair to other members to do that to them.

Vance's Cabin – 10TH MOUNTAIN HUT

Details information, and MAP and GPS Downloads go to : http://www.bigdaddymaps.com/Vances%20Cabin%20downloads.htm

Special NOTES: You make your own reservations – information below – Cost is $30 and reservations must be done by phone and your own waiver filled out and sent in to TMH – I would love if we could fill the Hut with just our group – easy on space usage, bedding, meal prep. And cleaning I am planning on meeting at the trail head parking but if people want to organize their own car pooling great.

Plan is to start snowshoeing/skiing about 10 am (tentatively) – As people with different equipment and skills will travel at different speeds, the group could separate at times but we will have planned meet up points to assure everyone is still with us and OK. (We’ll have a better plan once we know everyone’s mode of travel) This is an easier hut trip BUT it is still winter travel and you need to be prepared.

The Hut system does not do refunds but you can sell your reservation if you cannot go. But It should be easy to sell it within the group.

Weather / Road conditions may be a problem so be prepared.

RSVP POLICY Please RSVP whether you plan to attend one of our functions or not. Apparently Meetup keeps track of these and if there's no activity over a certain period of time they can make you inactive (a "No" RSVP counts as activity)! If you RSVP "Yes" please make sure you are planning to attend the trip and will be at the designated meeting point by the time indicated. 10 people waiting for an hour for one person to show up doesn't exactly start the trip off on a positive note! If you have Reservations and can’t go it is your responsibility to sell your spot… (I’ll try to help you) Dinner, Lunches and Breakfast are on your own.  (bring your own Coffee, Cream and Sugar if you wish)

11,500’ - last year we did have a couple people get alt. sick – bring aspirin.. DRINK LOTS OF WATER 2 sleeping rooms – people Snore so I recommend earplugs….

My plans to stay in Frisco Saturday night fell through (friend had ski accident and shattered a leg...yikes!). So I'll be driving to the Woolly Mammoth lot from Boulder on Sunday morning. I plan to leave Boulder by 7 am to be at the pnr by the designated meeting time of 7:45 am. Anyone going my way is welcome to a ride there and back. Please email me directly if you wish to carpool between Boulder and the pnr. I can take up to two additional passenger comfortably. Thanks! See ya'all on Sunday!

Sorry for the late cancel, but it now looks like I need to be at work on Monday. Y'all have fun!

Okay there are many carpooling posts so I'm a little lost. So i guess I have to start another one, sorry :( I was planning on driving myself but my car just crapped out and will need work, so now I won't be able to go unless I can get a ride. Sorry :( I'm happy to chip in for gas. Anyway, I live in Littleton, but can easily meet up with someone in Denver if it's nearish a light rail station or at a light rail station/PnR domwhere between Mineral/Santa Fe and the downtown stations. Please let me know if anyone can give me a lift, thanks!

  • Jenny W.

Anyone carpooling from boulder, who either has room in a car or wants to start a new carpool?

    January 2, 2013

    • Jenny W.

Agaf - I can get you to Wooly Mammoth but I think Rob's car is full.

      January 3, 2013

    • Agaf D.

Jenny, I'll take you up on that, and I'll hope that there's a spot in someone's car. Sounds like a bunch of folks are planning to stop there. Email me at [masked] and we'll work out the details.

      January 3, 2013

  • Rob B

Also be at the PNR @ 7:45.

    January 3, 2013

  • Yuri

Brad, it's a good idea. Let's everyone, who is from Denver and surrounding area and interested in carpool, meet 7:45AM at Woody Mammoth lot (section A-B, across gas station). Confirm if you will be there by posting at this site. At least it will be known how many people to expect.

    January 3, 2013

    • Jenny W.

      I'll meet there at 7:45

      January 3, 2013

    • Brad

I'll be there at 7:45; I can drive or ride, whatever is needed.

      January 3, 2013

  • Sharla H

I live in Capital Hill and would like to ride with someone. I'll share gas expenses...

    December 29, 2012

    • Sharla H

I still haven't gotten confirmation from Gale - and I can't go if I don't get a ride due to my car being a Mustang. Lol. So I'm really hoping to ride with at least one person. :-)

      January 3, 2013

    • Brad

It looks like most people will meet at the Woody Mammoth lot - I think if we all get there at the same time, we can come up with a good carpool plan.

      January 3, 2013

  • Ilana P.

Hi all, I know I haven't weighed in on the carpooling yet, but I am still coming on the trip. I'm planning to ski the resorts on Saturday and spend the night in Frisco so I'll just meet everyone at the TH on Sunday at 10. And I'm happy to give one or two folks a ride home on Monday. I'll be headed home to Boulder after the trip. Also, I'll be on skis for the hut trip...I have dynafit alpine touring equipment. I'm planning to bring the usual avie gear as well, although I'm a backcountry beginner. Hopefully someone else will be geared up to ski and we can find a good slope somewhere or at least bury a beacon and do some S&R practice. See ya all soon. -lana

Hi there, will be driving from Buena Vista. Will expect to pay someone at trailhead or email me with address if I need to reimburse someone who had to cancel.
Skiing has been getting better up there. A bit more snow would be nice.
    Cheers,
    Jay

Hi Gang. Let me know if anybody else is interested carpooling from Wooly Mammoth lot?

    January 2, 2013

  • Rob B

I can take 2 passengers and will be coming from the SE metro area.

    January 2, 2013

    • Jenny W.

Could we meet at the Wooly Mammoth lot by I-70?

      January 2, 2013

    • Brad

Sounds good if that works for you guys!

      January 2, 2013

  • Agaf D.

Is anyone available to carpool? I'll be coming from Boulder.

    December 28, 2012

    • Jenny W.

Any room in this carpool for one more? I can meet anywhere in boulder.

      January 1, 2013

    • Agaf D.

Check with Nancy Walker about that - she's the one who's driving. I don't know what size her car is. We have 3 plus gear at the moment.

      January 2, 2013

  • Rob B

I'd also like to carpool & share expenses. I'm in the Cherry Crk Res area, but can meet anywhere. Prefer not to drive, but I think I can in a pinch (no 4 wheel drv and I don't know anything about the road to the TH).

We will be meeting @ 10am - Ski Cooper parking lot. I will send out directions tomorrow or just go to the 10th Mountain hut web site.

Hi all, I have done this hut before and had a great experience. I want to clarify that we are meeting at 9 am or 10am at Ski Cooper parking lot?

    December 28, 2012

  • Kenneth

Hi fellow hutters, I sent out an email a few days ago letting everyone know I will not be providing dinner. Please bring your own meals. See you soon. KPJ

  • Agaf D.

Lisa, I just joined up to take your place. I called the reservation system and since you haven't cancelled, they can't make a reservation for me. Easiest thing is for me to pay you for your space. Let me know how you would like to proceed.

    December 28, 2012

  • Lisa

Kenneth, I just learned that I have a mandatory meeting for work on the 7th, so I will no longer be able to make the trip. I am very disappointed, as I really enjoyed the trip last year.
