Snowshoe/XC Ski Overnight to Vances Hut - 10th Mount Div. Hut
Snowshoe or Cross Country Ski to Vance’s Hut – (same hut WE did last year)
I already reserved 8 spots - So everyone will have 2 options -
Option # 1 - Sign up on the meetup site for this trip and then send me a check for $30.00. (please mail me the payment within 2 weeks or I will have to remove you from the trip) NO REFUNDS!!!
Option # 2 - Sign up through the 10th Mountain web site.
Attention: Out of consideration for the organizers time & effort in planning this trip, only sign up if you are serious about going and know for sure that you can actually attend.
- IF YOU M A K E Y O U R O W N R E S E R V A T I O N with the 10th Mountain Division – After that I will need you to EMAIL ME YOUR RESERVATION and then RSVP on the Meetup!
As the trip organizer, I keep “SAFETY” as number one priority for the group, no exceptions! Please be courteous and considerate to all participants. If you have any concerns please let me know. Waiver and Release: Please Note: Participants attending this trip must sign the Colorado Backpackers and Campers Meetup Group - Terms of Understanding and Signup Sheet. This can be found on the site under: More - Files - Terms of Understanding and Signup Sheet.
Everyone attending this trip is required to send me an email ([masked]) with the following information.
This is so I can easily contact you with planning details or last minute changes.
Skis or Snowshoes:
This email will act as your electronic signature & acknowledgment that you have read and understand the Terms of Understanding and Signup Sheet. If this is not received, I cannot guarantee that you will receive all the trip info including trail head time changes, carpooling info, or other final planning information. If no response to this you may be removed.
DUE TO A COUPLE PEOPLE LAST YEAR THAT TOOK UP RSVP SPOTS BUT NEVER MADE RESERVATION – Policy for this trip is: If you RSVP and Don’t make a Reservation With 10th Mount.Div. may be removed from the group . It is unfair to other members to do that to them.
Vance's Cabin – 10TH MOUNTAIN HUT
Details information, and MAP and GPS Downloads go to : http://www.bigdaddymaps.com/Vances%20Cabin%20downloads.htm
Special NOTES: You make your own reservations – information below – Cost is $30 and reservations must be done by phone and your own waiver filled out and sent in to TMH – I would love if we could fill the Hut with just our group – easy on space usage, bedding, meal prep. And cleaning I am planning on meeting at the trail head parking but if people want to organize their own car pooling great.
Plan is to start snowshoeing/skiing about 10 am (tentatively) – As people with different equipment and skills will travel at different speeds, the group could separate at times but we will have planned meet up points to assure everyone is still with us and OK. (We’ll have a better plan once we know everyone’s mode of travel) This is an easier hut trip BUT it is still winter travel and you need to be prepared.
The Hut system does not do refunds but you can sell your reservation if you cannot go. But It should be easy to sell it within the group.
Weather / Road conditions may be a problem so be prepared.

RSVP POLICY Please RSVP whether you plan to attend one of our functions or not. Apparently Meetup keeps track of these and if there's no activity over a certain period of time they can make you inactive (a "No" RSVP counts as activity)! If you RSVP "Yes" please make sure you are planning to attend the trip and will be at the designated meeting point by the time indicated. 10 people waiting for an hour for one person to show up doesn't exactly start the trip off on a positive note! You must make your own reservations –
If you have Reservations and can’t go it is your responsibility to sell your spot… (I’ll try to help you) Dinner, Lunches and Breakfast are on your own. (bring your own Coffee, Cream and Sugar if you wish)
11,500’ - last year we did have a couple people get alt. sick – bring aspirin.. DRINK LOTS OF WATER 2 sleeping rooms – people Snore so I recommend earplugs….
