Last nights meeting was great. There were four different brands of video cameras presented by their respective sales reps. What was missing for me was a detailed discussion to the different technology in the cameras. Why is a three sensor cmos better than one, if that one is a full frame 35mm sensor? Is there an affect on DOF related to sensor size? Which camera is better for a certain video assignment than another camera? What's the next generation of camera technology, like 4k, and its cost, its ROI? Perhaps my questions are an entirely different meeting topic that requires a impartial presenter.

Jim and Britt, It is a lot of technology to keep track of. It would be hard to do this as a meeting for everyone as it is so personal and related to people's individual shooting style and needs. It's why you should work with one of the COPVA sponsors such as Burst (the company I work for) or Peak because we can help answer your questions, and help guide you to what is right for your needs and budgets. If you have general camera technology questions, I'm always available as a resource for a cup of coffee to answer your questions as best I can, and I'm glad to do that even if you never ever buy anything from Burst or refer business to us. I'm sure other sponsors or knowledgeable members would be glad to do the same.

I enjoyed the presentation. With this format presentation, it would be nice to have a subject that could be filmed by all cameras akin to what one would find when running a camera test prior to a shoot.

The balloons, candy, etc. didn't scratch the itch?

Ha!! Well, the cookies and brownies certainly didn't hurt.

As a camera operator, seeing the camera in action with lighting, a subject, and some different movement helps get a better feel how the tool works in different scenarios.

Still, seeing the new cameras in person was welcome. I hadn't ever really considered JVC as an option until last night.

I thought the meeting was great. There was A LOT of information put out, but I made to sure to speak with people afterwards and get their contact info because, I also had more in depth questions. All in all, I thought it was a great way to open the door for us to see (and consider) other brands.

Good to see the camera equipment up close and hear from several leading vendors. As always, a nice networking opportunity as well.
