Just learned today about this great mock meat. Per Oprah and the people that had samples it tasted just like chicken. And it's high in protein too. If you are looking for a chicken substitute check it out.

Thanks Lisa!

This was a great excerpt on Oprah's show....featuring the vegan chef Tal Ronnen. I definitely plan to check out his new cookbook - The Conscious Cook. Here is a link to his website: http://www.talronnen.com/
Check out his recipe for Cashew Cream - http://www.talronnen.com/recipes/cashew-cream/ (great for making a cheese sauce/filling or cream in soups).

Looks like Gardein can be found locally here in Colorado at:

King Soopers
Safeway
Whole Foods Market
(near the dairy section with the other meat-free foods)

I was hoping it might be "soy free" but at least they diversify the protein used by also using wheat and pea protein. The FAQ's link is at the very bottom of their web page and answers a lot of questions about the product.

Cashews are also great for making cashew cream (whipped cream) and puddings. Oh, and cream cheese. They are healthier than the dairy version and these recipes are raw!
