Join us for a night of beer and astronomical observation at DUs Chamberlin Observatory. Cost $1

AGENDA Saturday night

Stadium Inn, in imbibe 7-8:30PM
Observing 8:30-10PM
More drinking...? Other?

We start at Stadium Inn, a little landmark dive bar (1700 East Evans Ave) near the University of Denver.

Also reviewed here.
Then we move the evening to East side of South University, the awe-inspiring Observatory Park, 2 blocks South of Evans Ave near 2930 East Warren Ave. See the mountains, craters and seas of the moon; Jupiter’s gaseous stripes and moons; Mars, “the red planet,” and stars. Afterwords, we move the party elsewhere by acclamation! The observatory’s 20 inch refractor is one of the largest telescopes of its kind in the West.

Do know that since it is Saturday night, we will outnumbered at Chamberlin Observatory by the general mass public (in case you are thinking of just catching up)! A popular night to 'go dark.'

The observatory was an amusement park ride. You wait an hour and a half for a 30 second glimpse. Fun talking to people while waiting though.

I really enjoyed getting to know everyone. Shooting pool with Jonathan and Anita at Stadium Inn was fun. My only complaint was the LONG wait at the Observatory. However, it did allow us to chat in line more and have fun conversation. The REAL fun began when we all went to Armidas to enjoy drinks and karaoke! Everyone seemed to haver really let loose there and all had a BLAST! So, I"m glad we eventually ended up there.

In the company of great people while enjoying a brew and peeking at Jupiter and her moons.

Hey Rick and new friends, SEE YA there!
Anyone ready to review the college football season for us?

Astronomy basics will be on tap first ("the earth goes around the sun; the sun shines on the moon, reflecting its light back to us at night..."), until we get silly ("Baby, you're a star! Just don't go super nova here with me...."). Just remember "beer goggles" is now a proven scientific fact.
