Rather than the usual Munchkin Night, I thought it'd be nice to mix it up a little bit and try out a games and wine night. I host things like this occasionally and wanted to see how well-received it would be here. We will have all of the usual crowd favorites available, like Cards Against Humanity and Munchkin, but we often get through several games a night, so if you have one you want to play, bring it!
This is, first and foremost, an opportunity to come out and play your favorite card/board games in a friendly and fun atmosphere. If you're not a wine drinker, no problem! But if you're interested in learning more about what's in the bottle, this will also be a chance to talk shop and learn more about the wonderful world of wine.
I've found that a lot of folks secretly enjoy wine, but they don't so much care for the 'experts' who tend to use rather flowery language in an attempt to impress people. The sniffing, the swirling, the snorting, the exclaiming, the pontificating...it's enough to drive you mad! The world of wine can be intimidating, but it doesn't have to be...we'll have a chance to discuss tasting notes, grape varieties, or whatever else might interest the group. This won't be an exercise in snobbery and I won't be getting up and droning on about tannins and autolytic character and all that nonsense.
Logistical stuff: If you'd like to try out some wine, please bring a bottle to share with the group; otherwise, the usual guidelines will apply. Plan to bring a dish or snack for others to share...I don't make for rules but some type of caloric intake would be appreciated, either in liquid or solid form. I will have stuff on hand but the cost adds up quickly since I host frequently. I will e-mail my phone number and address to all who have RSVP’d a few days before the event, so please be considerate of others and update your info as soon as you think you might not be able to attend.
