Arkham Horror: Vanilla Style

In the year and a half that this Meetup has been around, we {the organizers} have tried to provide a large variety of gaming titles for our members to choose from. We've had the simple and the complex, as well as the strategic and the luck-based. I would like to present a special invitation to all our members (newer or experienced) who would like to try something a little bit different. Something a little bit dangerous. Something that might get you...DEVOURED!

Arkham Horror is an epic, heavily-themed, cooperative board game that is designed for a total of eight players. Since it's cooperative, you're not going to be playing against me, any other experienced player, or any type of 'game master'...you will be playing against the game itself, with the help of everyone else! Our objective is simple: acquire knowledge, skills, and weaponry to defeat an Ancient One and save the world.

Although the game is (in)famous for its difficulty and/or complexity, we won't be playing it as such. We'll use the base game, with the least amount of rules, exceptions, and expansions. It won't take all night to play, and no one is going to be quarterbacking/second-guessing your every decision. We want to foster an environment of fun, cooperation, and enjoyment!

Logistical stuff: The game supports a maximum of 8 players. Please plan to bring a dish or snack for others to share. I will have stuff on hand but the cost adds up quickly since I host frequently. Also, this is a BYOB event. I will e-mail my phone number and address to all who have RSVP’d a few days before the event, so please be considerate of others and update your info as soon as you think you might not be able to attend.

I would love to arrange a full-blown Arkham horror game ... Especially for those familiar with the game-play as it can be a little complicated to the uninitiated.

I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for the next one. Maybe look into cthulhu gaming outside the meet up? I have some expansions that have yet to be broken in. I also have a box full of the LCG.

I've played in the past, but need a refresher. Has the address been sent yet? JJ, thanks for hosting, I'm looking forward to it!

Also, I have played once a few months ago so I may be slightly familiar.
