Though the schedule and vendors are still in the making, here are a couple of links so you can keep up to date.  There are a couple of classes that fill up quickly, so sign up ASAP!  I was thinking of meeting for a fungi breakfast, but lets see which restaurants sign up. I will post the classes individually on our site.

I enjoyed this festival so much! It had everything! The Mossy Roch shop where we met at for the foray was a really cool shop, the festival had different mushrooms for sale with the vendors generous with cooking tips and recipes, cool artwork to look at and for sale, cute truffle dogs, assorted tables with fresh mushrooms in categories if editable, poisonous, and questionable, lots of mushroom info, Jake who did an amazing job of IDing the mushrooms we all brought in and I think he had the patience of Job by having to ID the same mushroom over and over for the new people at the table, and then many local restaurants featuring special dishes. I had a wonderful chanterelle chile rellenos at Andale Andale, which was one of the best Mexican restaurants I've eaten at! Thank you Eileen and crew for putting on such a great festival!!!

I requested & received a list of the local eateries & mushroom dishes offered that hadn't yet made the website; Harmony Bakery ran out of Mushroom Gravy mid-day & the mushroom omelet was small & sparsely adorned...

Hi Richard, I am having a problem with the website update. Here are the menus from the participating restaurants:

I thought it said there would be cooking booths but I didn't see any. I couldn't see or hear anything at the mushroom ID table because there were too many people gathered around too small of a table so you couldn't see or hear the presenter.

he wasn't really a 'presenter'... his role as I understand it was to ID the mushrooms so they could be placed on the exhibition tables... the bulk of the mushroom samples came in all at the same time and 'late' for when they were expected in the overall set up... he was valiant but overwhelmed... would have also liked to see some cooking exhibitions... lol, the smell of cooking mushrooms would have really alleviated the swarm around the id table...

The ID table needed an overhead screen & PA system and it's own room for a better presentation.

Was definitely a small town 'Festival'... but that meant that I could get my questions answered... also had a nice discussion with the Truffle dog lady and will do some of the 'tests' she suggested to see if that could be one of Shadow's 'things'.... he totally loves being in the woods and behaved like a pro...

btw... only 11 out of 20 people showed up for the hunt... two people from out of state who happened to be in the area got included to fill out some of the empty space...

Shadow dog and I had a great time... found lots of mushrooms (we were looking for as many different types as possible for the 'Festival') and only two were poisonous..

We took Steve Schmidt up on his 'Festival' special for next week... and are looking to find lots to eat.. getting a much better 'feel' for this...

I enjoyed the event, but "festival" seemed an ambitious term. I did have an interesting conversation with the truffle/dog lady and ate a delicious mushroom galette (puff pastry with chanterelles) at The Harmony Baking Company. I hope to do a future tour with Steve Schmidt, as I wasn't able to make it this time.

Looks like I missed all the sign ups for Mushroom hunting in my area. My husband and I are completely new to mushroom foraging. Would anyone in the Estacada area like to get together to look for boletes or other edibles? It seems like a lot of other people missed the sign ups. We should all look into getting together.

Hey all, I emailed the contact about the festival and this was my response:
Hi Rene, we are definitively having the Estacada Festival of the Fungus on the last Saturday of October. We are working on the schedule now and are hoping to have it finalized by the beginning of August. We intend a morning foray followed by an afternoon Identification Clinic. We are also planning a basic class in using the mushroom guide books one or two weeks beforehand and our local restaurants are serving wild mushroom specials that day. I hope you and all your friends can come.

I think their classes fill up quickly, so I will try to stay on top of it and let you know as soon as they release the information so we can get in on the classes. Without a doubt, this will be fun and informative! I am looking forward to joining you all here!
