Hi 'shroomers :) I'm new to this group and hunting mushrooms. I've been seeing a lot on my hikes so I'm in the market for a good book on identification. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you

Probably the best field guide is "All the Rain Promises and More" by David Arora. He has an unabridged mush bible, called "Mushrooms DeMystified." Another good one is "Common Mushrooms of the Northwest" by J. Duane Sept. This is a goon one because it is updated and shows seasons for each mushroom. Also, some mushrooms which were considered edible when Arora's book was published, are now suspicious and should be avoided, which the Duane Sept book points out. Finally, a good detailed book for identifying mushrooms beyond edibles (BUMs & LBMs) is "Field Guide to Mushrooms of Western North America" by R. Michael Davis, Robert Sommer, and John A. Menge. Happy Hunting!
