Introduction
Hi, I'm Andy...I joined a few months months ago and look forward to getting more active again in 2013.
What genre do you write? This is primarily a group for adults writing young adult or children's genres, so will you be able to contribute to this?
I have been working on several manuscripts ranging from pre-K picture book to early reader and young middle grade.
What length pieces do you write? Short stories, novels, poems, etc?
Mostly short stories ranging from about 250 word picture book to 2K early reader to 10K ymg.
Have you been published? If not, how serious are you about getting published?
Although my career as a NASA mission operations manager is enriching and challenging, particularly public outreach, my true ambition is to write children's stories. My goal is to have several polished manuscripts over the next 1-2 years. I would like to join a critique group that focuses on children's genres so I can further improve my skills, avoid common rookie mistakes, and one day see a real bound book of mine that I can pick up and hold, in a library or store.
Have you ever been part of a critique group before? If so, how was your experience?
First time working with a critique group.
Why do you write?
I feel they are already written, and I just need to have the motivation and encouragement to bring the stories and characters to life despite life's obstacles, pressures, distractions, and busy, hectic schedules.
