Introduction

I have written a middle grade short story and I'm writing a YA realistic fiction novel. I am a former high school teacher. I live with my husband and three boys in Laurel.

What genre do you write? This is primarily a group for adults writing young adult or children's genres, so will you be able to contribute to this?

What length pieces do you write? Short stories, novels, poems, etc?

Have you been published? If not, how serious are you about getting published?

I have not but I am seriously pursuing it.

Have you ever been part of a critique group before? If so, how was your experience?

Yes. I've been in a general group for a couple of years but I'm looking for a group that focusses on YA/middle grade. I was in such a group for a short while, but members quickly fell away. I'd like to find a group with serious writers.

Why do you write?

I have always wanted to but instead pursued a "safe" path. I'm ready to take the risks necessary to make the life I want for myself. This means writing.
