Columbia Camera Club Message Board › An invitation from The State Newspaper
I received a phone call from Tracy Glantz, photojournalist for The State Newspaper, the other evening. She was reaching out to the Columbia Camera Club to extend an invitation to our members to help the newspaper, which is now understaffed in the photo department to meet their needs. They basically have two areas where they need help.
For our members who would love to see their photos in the paper but aren't sure they are quite to the "professional" level option #1 is a great opportunity to get involved and grow your experience. For our members who are up for the challenge, this is an awesome opportunity to fulfill what most of us have dreamed of doing, and actually becoming an official photojournalist.
Anyone interested can contact Tracy Glantz at email@example.com or 803-920-2030

The State Newspaper is looking for energetic and delightfully outgoing people to make group snapshots at community events in and around Columbia.
Most assignments are on Saturdays or weeknight evenings and include tailgating at USC games and covering events that draw a crowd like music festivals and parades.

We are also looking to expand our list of freelance photojournalists. Duties would include photographing events as assigned, in a style consistent with newspaper journalism, obtaining accurate caption information, editing images, writing captions and transmitting images on deadline.
Requirements for freelance photographers would be to have a digital SLR, lenses and flash and a computer for editing and transmitting images.
An example of what a freelance photojournalist may cover can be seen below;
