Excellent presentation, albeit at a very fast pace that sometimes went over my head; but that is OK, it challenges me to learn and push myself. :-)

    Abstract:
What is Web API? How is this different from WCF?
In this session we will start at the beginning and learn all about Web API and what it has to offer. The good news is that if you have used ASP.Net MVC then using Web API will be comfortable to you. This session will be an interactive demo session so we will be spending the majority of our time inside Visual Studio getting our hands dirty learning about many of the features of Web API. Some of these features include its hosting options, what actions are and how to use them as well as how routing plays a critical role in building endpoints.
    Finally,
I will give a demo on how to call a web api endpoint from Silverlight, along w/ jquery.

    Derik's bio:
Derik Whittaker is a Software Architect who specializes in all things .Net. Derik has been building enterprise systems on top of the .Net technology stack for over 12 years and along the way has picked up a thing or two about how to create killer systems. During his 12 year career Derik has worked in many different industries ranging from Marking, Healthcare, Retail, Insurance, Automotive and Online Entertainment. Currently Derik is working for a Technology startup (VStrator) in Raleigh North Carolina helping them build out a best of breed technology solution which will enable their users to create world class coaching solutions.
