I've been contacted by the founder of Sophia's Stockings and was asked if our group could donate handmade preemie and newborn Santa hats. They are in need of about 45 newborn and preemie hats, and will be hand delivering their stockings (including the hats) to each NICU patient room.
What is Sophia's Stockings?Sophia’s Stockings Sophia is a bubbly 14 month old, with the ability to smile through anything! She was born with unexpected medical conditions, and as a result has spent months of her first year hospitalized. Through our experience, we have developed such an understanding for how difficult hospitalizations can be for children and their families. We are lucky enough to be home this holiday season, but have not forgotten about those who will be spending Christmas in a far different place than they had hoped. In honor of Sophia, please help us brighten the holidays for many children & families who will spend this Christmas at Johns Hopkins Children’s Hospital. Each donation will help fill one $10 stocking with the following items: Christmas themed story Book, small gift card for dining options at Hopkins, Candy, Holiday mug/Hot chocolate, Children’s Santa Hat & even handmade Preemie Santa Hats for NICU babies! Stockings will be hand delivered on Christmas Eve. New boxed toys may also be gifted and will be given to the Activity Life Department for hospital play rooms (they are in need of infant & toddler aged items). Thank you for making a difference in the lives of hospitalized Children & their families this Holiday Season! We couldn’t make such an impact without your support! With sincere appreciation, Sophia’s Family. Please make all donations by Dec 19th
I've uploaded a few free knit Santa hat patterns in our files. I tried to upload a crochet pattern, but was told the file was too big, so here is a link to the pattern on Ravelry. If you are willing to make one or a few please let me know ASAP so that I can let Sophia's Stocking know about how many we will be able to donate. Thank you!!
Columbia Sip 'n Knit started on a Wednesday night way back in October 2006 and we used to meeting in a locations called Border's Bookstore in Columbia (now Books-A-Million). Wednesday night attendance grew and grew till Borders just could not hold us any more and we moved to Panera's. Shortly after the move the Saturday group was created for those that could not join us on Wednesday nights. Then Tuesday morning's were added to the calendar and Friday afternoon's were added in the Fall of 2012.
Everyone is welcome. We have a wide range of expertise in all our groups, so if you have a problem or can't understand a pattern, do not hesitate to ask!! If the person you asked doesn't know I guarantee they can direct you to the best person! We do charitable project every once in a while and we'll schedule something soon. We'd love to have you join us anytime.
