You and your family and friends are cordially invited to share in our First Annual Vesakha Celebration and Potluck*, Sunday May 26 - 6pm, at the Aiken Unitarian Universalist Church.
Instead of our normally scheduled Sunday meditation session, each year near this time the Aiken Silent Meditation Group will be getting off our cushions to enjoy delicious compassionate food* and lively conversation about all things Buddhist.
Each year, Buddhists around the world celebrate Gautama Buddha in April or May and we look forward to joining this tradition in a casual, informal get-together of friends and family. Whether you are a 90 year old Zen monk or have no idea who or what a Buddha is, you are welcome to join us and get acquainted with other Buddhists and the Buddhist-curious in our area. We don't bite and you won't need to shave your head!
Children are welcome.
*This is a compassionate potluck, so please bring a cruelty-free dish to share.
Ideally, it would be vegan (no meat / fish, dairy, eggs, gelatin) but it must be at least vegetarian (no meat / fish, gelatin). Some great veg recipes can be found here: http://vegweb.com/recipes
