Benkyoukai: お土産文化について

Thank you to all who participated in our last meetup.

At our next meetup, we will be discussing Omiyage. In a few days, I will post a reading and some vocabulary that will be helpful during this discussion. If you find any part of the article hard to understand please make a note of it and we can discuss it at the meetup. Also, if you have any interesting stories about omiyage, be sure to tell us those stories in Japanese.

Looking forward to practicing with you all again.

I seem to be doing something wrong. I clicked on the file, but get 9 blank pdf pages.

I want to stress again, please don't feel overwhelmed by the reading. I know it is long. It is just meant as a reference or talking point. We will not be quizzing you on the vocab or anything :)

I am so sorry it took me so long to get the reading uploaded! If you click on the "More" tab above, it is under "Files". After the Japanese reading there is an English translation and vocab sheets. Here are some potential ways to study this article:

    1) Print out all the pages. Line up the Japanese with the English and Vocab pages. Read through and reference the English and vocab sheets.

    2) Read through the English first, then read the Japanese, referencing the vocab as you go.

    3) Read through the vocab sheets and highlight words you don't know. Then read through the Japanese.

If there is anything in the Japanese that you didn't understand or grammar you were confused about, be sure to make a note of it so we can discuss it in the group. Lastly, if you really don't have time (I know I was late posting this) or 3 pages of Japanese seems daunting, just read through the English and come ready to discuss Omiyage.

    See you all Saturday!
