お花見・O-hanami

Hanami is the Japanese tradition of picnicking under the cherry blossom tress. We have a great space at Franklin Park Conservatory where there are some nice trees we can sit under. I will have green tea for everyone. Please bring blankets to sit on and lunch for yourself. If anyone is willing to volunteer to bring some extra Japanese dishes, that would be wonderful! *Note! This event is 100% dependent on the weather. It may be changed or canceled depending on Ohio's flippant weather.

This was a very nice gathering. I wish I could hang with this group more often but distance is a limiting factor.
I was great meeting everyone and it was a beautiful day.

Something came up at the last minute so I will not be able to make it after all. I hope everyone has a wonderful time and I look forward to attending future events!

Official Notice: we will meet outside the main entrance to the conservatory.
Follow signs for "main entrance" when you get into the complex. Go ahead and park. We will meet on the brick paved patio area outside the doors to the conservatory. If you get there late, follow the path off to the left behind the conservatory buildings. You will eventually come to a small lake with little white Sakura trees. We should be close to there.

Okay, please ignore my last post entirely. I called the park again today and they said, if we are just going to use the outside area, we do not need to pay entrance to the conservatory! I will go on Friday to scope out a good place to meet. Please check back Friday afternoon for more details.

Cost to enter is $12. Its a very nice park though, worth looking around if you have the time. As for the directions, I think you will take 70 all the way into Columbus, get on 71-N till you see the Broad Street exit. But I would map it just to be safe.

Also, since you are coming from so far away, please check this site before you leave to make sure we didn't cancel. I will probably have post by 10am the day of if we will have to cancel due to weather.

Wondering if attending this event requires entrance fee to the conservatory or if being on the grounds outside is free?
