Yakiniku Party!

Let's grill out, Japanese style! We will be having a traditional Japanese barbaque with all the fixings. I have yet to find a location for this but I will modify the event when we figure it out.

One note: we will provide food at this event. However, because of that, we will be asking everyone to chip in to cover the cost. More on that later.

Great get together! otsukare samadeshita! The Shiritori game was lots of fun. I definitely need to work on vocabulary!

I followed everyone's advice and signed up for lang-8 and was amazed at the instant feedback to my post! I learned so much just from that :) I also found a site for free language partners through skype and I'm so thankful for everyone's encouragement.

I would love to stop by and meet everyone. Is this event for any one interested in the group? I understand that there might not be enough food since I'm a little late to RSVP but I will bring $5 just in case. I just want to stop by and see what the group is like.

Thank you! I've eaten lunch already so I won't be too much of a burden :) Can't really eat a lot on a diet anyways :P

PARKING: As you are coming in the main entrance, there will be a big parking lot off to the right, just before the turn to Oak Coves. This may be your best bet if you can't find parking in front of the site.

SUCCESS! We have two tables just behind the first pavilion. From the main entrance to Highbanks Park (off of Rt. 23) follow the road until you see a sign for Oak Coves Picnic Area. Turn left. The tables will be in the first little picnic area immediately on the right.

WARNING!!! Do not rely on google maps to get you there. It will not work! Take directions from the park website.

    Konnichwa Allyson,

I do plan on coming to this grill-out. Where in this park will we be meeting?
As it turns out, this outing is close to my brother's house in Powell so I have been to this park a couple of times.
Also, If it works, I may be bringing a treat tothe party. It is the first time I am trying this dish so I need to make a dryn run today first (Friday).
Also, about how much $ are you anticipating each participant will need to contribute?

I am not familiar with the park, so I will be going early to scope out a spot. I was hoping we could get one of the shelters at the Oak Groves picnic area.
As for the cost, it will probably be about $10 a person, assuming everyone shows up. I will have a Totoro jar to take donations :)

I can bring something, too, if y'all want :) I have a surplus o peppers right now and, unless something eats my plants before then, haha

You can be exempt for contributing peppers :)

OK. Going to have a couple jalapenos, a few banana peppers, and probably a green bell pepper (and *maybe* a pablano). Is that enough? I can surely get a couple extra if need be. And no need to exempt me, but thank you very much for the offer :) I like to share the things that I have.

It's time to start planning the menu! So far, we were planning on having: beef and chicken (both sliced thin for yakiniku), shitake, corn, peppers (red and green), onions, and zucchini or maybe Japanese eggplant. Are there any other requests?
    Any dietary restrictions?

I had to change the date because I was having trouble getting everything ready for next week. Please confirm that you can still make it later in the summer. Thanks!

So I was thinking, I've got a grill and a Japanese cook book and it also covers Yaki niku. I am offering my home downtown or worthington, we could bring marinated meats and fun. What do you all think?

Thank you for the offer. I have some leads on a few nice parks in town that I would like to check out first. I'll get back to you.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
