Moonlit photo-hike: Hocking Hills overnight trip

Join us for a two-day Winter adventure in Hocking Hills. During this trip you will have the opportunity to experiment with low-light creative photography techniques like long exposures, star trails, and light painting! It's going to be a full moon, so we are hoping for a Moonbow looking up from one of the waterfalls!

Hocking Hills is full of amazing photographic opportunities regardless the time of year. The Winter season transforms the gorge into a "Winter wonderland" with ice formations and the occasional snow.

Cottage/Gas Fee:

After you RSVP please pay the cottage/gas fee HERE. The fee must be paid by 2/3 in order to go on this overnight trip.

Tentative itinerary:

1:00-2:30p Carpool to cottage for check-in

2:30-3:30p Unload clothes/food at cottage

12:25-4:00p Photo-hike in Hocking Hills**

4:00-5:30p Carpool back to Target

*Carpool info: Meet at the Target Parking Lot at 12:50p. I'll be as close to the left entrance as possible (the night crew parks in that area, so it won't be strange for cars to be there overnight).

Awesome event and great company! While it didn't go as planned/hoped meteorologically, the group rolled with it and made the most of the conditions to try something different. Many thanks to Rob for organizing, driving, cooking, and scouting out some out of the way locations (I think Ua also had a hand in scouting.) Hope to be able to go back in the near future!

What an awesome trip! We had a lot of great opportunities to get creative and collaborate as a team. Everyone who came was extremely friendly and helped out. Thank you Rob for putting this event together and for driving us around - even in 5 inches of fresh snow!

Hi! Is there any way just to join the night portion of this trip? I live in this area, so would just meet you there if I can get the night off work?

      Of course Teresa!

Another good reason to avoid the "main trail" on Saturday, my friends over at the Columbus Outdoor Adventurers will be hiking that trail (almost 20 people):

Just checked the website: "With the Sun currently hovering near its time of maximum activity, there may be many opportunities to see spectacular auroras, even from areas much closer to the equator." Hoping for a clear night.

I'll swing by Popeyes and get 2 buckets of fried chicken. Easy and keeps well with minimal refrigeration requirements. I'll throw in a couple of 2 liter bottles of soda and water as well. Let me know if that works for (most -not very vegetarian) everyone.

Should you RSVP "YES", let us know what you are bringing for Potluck dinner. Wouldn't want ten packages of hot dogs :) I'll make a pan of Vegi Lasagna.

Yep. The next full moon that falls on a night we could go on an overnight trip isn't until July. Valentine's Day it is! :)
