6/10 "Back in Black" featuring Maggie

Many of you know Maggie from pin-up and lingerie themed shoots and a fairly recent "James Bond" shoot.  Maggie's a stunning, versatile model who is going to absolutely rock a number of black outfits for this shoot (to clarify, there will be no lingerie type shots).

To add to what is going to be an awesome look for Maggie, I've lined up an MUA for this shoot which is the reason for the higher registration cost. (If you've never done a shoot with an MUA, it is definitely worth the additional cost as it will notably decrease editing/retouching time! )  The makeup will be completed, with the exception of quick touch-ups, prior to our scheduled shooting time.

We will meet in the R&L Digital (side entrance of building) lobby area.  I plan on being there by 6:00 p.m. so if there is anyone new to shooting with the group or shooting in the studio, I can give you an overview of what to expect and the basics you need to know for the shoot.  If you are not new new to the group or have studio experience, please arrive a few minutes early to allow time for "housekeeping items" as we will promptly enter the studio and get started at 6:30 p.m. sharp so we can utilize every moment possible of our two hour studio time.

We will be working in Studio B for this shoot and will use studio strobes for all shots.

I'd also like to take a moment to inform those who are new to shooting with the group and to remind our regulars that our models (and also our MUA for this shoot) are to receive five retouched digital images from each photographer who shoots.  This is the primary way that our models (and MUAs, stylists, etc.) are compensated for their time and talent in working with us.  We typically provide these to the models via Dropbox.  I’m glad to be of assistance if you don't know how to do this.

Also, please note that any updates, changes, or new information will be posted as comments here.  Thus, I recommend checking comments below before coming to the shoot.

Very good - several lighting set-ups and thus a of variety of shooting. Maggie was good and so was the MUA. Tiffany did a great job as the organizer and we had some cool fog for some shots. A very nice evening of shooting.

Tiffany, I am anxious to meet everyone and share their expertise. I always look forward to meeting the model for the shoot and hope I can make a good impression and help the model relax and be herself, in this case. I'm really looking forward to the 10th! Hopefully I can get there by 6:00 pm, so I can get familiar with any regulations or necessary procedures Jim may have to tell me. See everyone in about a week. Thanks Tiffany.

Maggie's a real pro, so she'll be relaxed and herself regardless :-). Jim will not be at the shoot -- I'm the organizer running this one. Feel free to contact me directly at [masked] if you prefer that over public comments here with any questions or concerns. See you next week!

I recently attended my first Meetup session 5-29-14 with Jim Mitchell, called Learn to Light & Shoot People with a professional model (Cassidy). It was very enjoyable, so I now am trying this 'more advanced' session on Jim's advice. I love studio people/portrait shoots, hope to learn from all the other studio photographers attending, and take advantage of all the lighting set-ups and placement thus casting appropriate shadows for miraculous shots. The Professional MUA should make it extra special from my limited past experience.
