Triple Nickel...Ohio's Tail of the Dragon

  • Jul 5, 2014 · 9:00 AM

It is time to ride the Triple Nickel (OH Rt 555). This is not a ride for beginners. This is an exciting ride full of twists, turns, and hills.

We will me at the Kroger in Hebron, OH (600 E Main St, Hebron, OH 43025) at 9am with kickstands up at 9:30am. We will ride route 40 east to Zanesville and jump on the Triple Nickel for a lot of fun and hair raising moments. Lunch destination is open to suggestion and will be posted before the ride. Please be well rested and ready for a fun day. Be familiar with group riding procedures and hand signals.

Hey guys, just wanted to share a short video of my trip to Columbus, http://youtu.be/gR2LeHGxaDo
Again, I appreciated going on the ride with you all.

I love those GoPro cameras. My oldest son has one, and usually attaches it to his bike... not sure why he didn't on our Rt555 trip.

Long range forecast is saying sunny and 84 for this ride. Remember your helmets since we will be crossing into West "By God" Virginia.

Where all are we heading after 555 ends? There is a great restaurant in Marietta, (Boat House) It's about 20 miles from the end of 555, so not sure if it's out of the way or not.

      July 1, 2014

    • Brian B

Ben, we will be doing lunch at the Country Kitchen across the river in West Virginia.

I am wondering if an out of stater, can go on this ride on the tripple. I am riding my viffer to a conference in Columbus, and I have the 5th off till late eve, and saw that this ride was planned. I would sure like to join you all.

    June 24, 2014

    • Brian B

Gabriel, we would love to have you join us. This is a pretty tricky route as long as you are comfortable with your riding skills. Be sure to bring a helmet since we will be crossing into West Virginia. Here is a link on our site with good information on group riding. www.meetup.com/ColumbusMotorcycleRiders/pages/Group_Riding_Information_for_CMR/

Brian, thanks for the welcome to the ride. In Missouri we have many curves, and I log about a thousand miles a month. I wear all my gear on rides like this as well. I am aware of my skill level and never afraid to slow down as needed. I look forward to meeting you all and seeing your wonderful state.

are you going to ride all the way to Parkersburg?

    June 23, 2014

    • Brian B

That was the plan. It is only about a 20 minute ride from where the Triple Nickel dead ends into the River Rt 7. We should get to lunch around 1pm and then start back around 2pm.

Please ride responsibly, so this road does not end up being over patrolled... Like Tail of the Dragon.

I will be extremely careful, my wife would be riding with me so I am not gonna put her life in danger. I will be in the slower group anyways.
