Getting to Know You - Sharing Your Vegan Story

Hi all!

One question we are probably all too familiar with is "Soooo...why are you vegan?"  Sharing our story about our vegan transition, wherever we are on the journey, helps us connect with both fellow vegan and non-vegans (or as I like to say, pre-gans).  I find it a powerful tool to open the minds and hearts of others and a joy to share this part of my life experience.  I invite you to come and meet other like-minded folk, share your vegan story, and discuss tools on how to communicate effectively.

I intend for this meetup to be an engaging group discussion.  I hope you come prepared for the opportunity to meet new people (which you may not have at a regular restaurant meetup), share your story and truly engage with those around you.  Please be respectful of others; nobody likes the vegan police!

Please note that Portia's Cafe closes at 3pm on Sundays, so if you would like food/refreshments come early :) Thank you so much, Portia, for allowing us to use your cafe space!

I believe that together we can build a strong vegan community here in Columbus but only if we take the time to connect with each other.  I look forward to meeting you and learning about your vegan transformation!

In short, I dropped milk from my diet and years down the line I cut out meats and changed my entire diet and way of life little by little. I'm still changing my diet as time passes but Im always looking for new dish ideas and cooking methods.

Thanks to all who attended today! I was excited to hear your stories and your interests, and I look forward to seeing you again soon (probably June). In the mean time, you can check out the "Pages" tab of the meetup group to find some great links to a wide range of resources, some of which we addressed today. And of course, please send me a message if you find something you are interested in doing or want to discuss at a future meetup :)

    Peace,
    Amy

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
