Wellington City Council removed lots of trees from Cummings Park, Ngaio, earlier this year because they were getting too big. So we are having a planting bee to replace them.
Our working bee is on Sunday, 8 September 2013 from 1:00 pm – 3:00, followed by afternoon tea. (Hopefully cake...) We hope lots of locals and kids will come, but thought you might like to join us and explore this beautiful little park.
Meet up by the bridge and sculpture in the middle of the park. You can see them from the end of the car park behind the shops on Ottawa Road. The car park entrance is a steep driveway beside Cafe Villa. Or you can walk along the track that starts just north of the library.
Expert tree planter, Trevor Lloyd, will be at the bridge at 1:00 and will give you a talk about the plants we are putting in and some of the features of the park. He will walk down the stream to the planting site with you, and be there to answer any of your questions.
Ngaio train station is 2 minutes walk away. Cafe Villa is close by if you want to have lunch in Ngaio first - or a proper coffee afterwards.
