Lake Worth Municipal Beach (map)
Those of us who knew and played with Brother Judah will be honoring him by sharing memories, and playing the drumming chants that he introduced us to.
This is the original Lake Worth beach drum circle, whose leaders have been actively working with the City of Lake Worth. We have good news regarding the new hours of operation. During turtle season (ending in November) the park will close at 10pm. Also, durring that time we will gather on the grassy area accross from the pier and above the pavilion. There we can enjoy the beautiful South Florida sunset or dramatic lightning shows as well as the full moon rising to the east. (The So. Fla coastline is a sensitive nesting site of turtles, some of them endangered).
Special Note re City Rules:
Every month we gather on the full moon to celebrate with high energy drumming and dancing. A human tradition that cuts across all nations and all ethnicities. The tradition is older than the written word. And, primordial vibrations are very cool. Come celebrate with your human brothers and sisters.
NOTICE OF DRUM CIRCLE TIME CHANGE: 7:00 til 10:00
The Lake worth city council has reached a consensus re our special purpose use with regard to the long standing tradition of drumming and dancing at the beach.
With turtle-nesting a primary concern, the city council has agreed to permit us to use the park until midnight if, during the turtle-nesting season, we (drum circle participants) do not walk, drum, dance or use the dry sandy areas of the beach.
Turns out that lights present the primary interference of turtle-nesting, ergo all the lights on the beach are turned off.
Second is human interference, DON'T GO THERE! The primary reason we have moved our drumming activities to the grassy area on the dunes is to not interfere with natural nesting behaviors. This is why we must ask everyone who participates in drumming, dancing or spectating to refrain from using the dry sandy areas of the beach after dark at our Full Moon Drum Circle.
It has been determined that noise is the third most important element of interference and that the drumming sounds we make are far enough away from the beach that they do not present a significant problem in this area.
Let's thank all of our organizers and activists as well as the city council members, parks department and sheriffs who worked diligently and doggedly to resolve the turtle-nesting protection issue in an equitable manner. We are all in this together, you, me and all the turtles.
The original Lake Worth full Moon Drum Circle still happens only in Lake Worth at the beach! but on the grass during turtle nesting season. (May through October). The Lake Worth beach is a favorite nesting beach for many species of sea turtles, including the endangered species leather-back turtle, and will be the nursery for hundreds of turtle nests.
The purpose of this meetup is to celebrate the full moon high energy with drumming and dancing. A human tradition that cuts across all nations and all ethnicities. The tradition is older than the written word. And, Primordial vibrations are very cool. Come celebrate with your human brothers and sisters.
PLEASE NOTE: We are working with LW city council to keep the park open until midnight, we'll keep you posted:-)

Yes, Eric and hopefully we will all become unified and one again. Love, Light and Energy
I wouldn't be suprised to see some of the LW City council members attend the Full Moon Circle at Lake Worth Beach with us! I think we were all pleasantly surprised.
"PEACE and LOVE" was everywhere as we chanted those words of Brother Judah's and then I felt his presence with us so close. Somehow it rained all around us but we had a circle of WHITE LIGHT and NO RAIN at all OMG YES, God was all around us as we spread Brothers Judahs message into the ethers. The Sun Sentinal Newspaper there with us too so there should be a write up in the paper sometime soon about the circle and hopefully they mention Judah. They said they may come to Lake Worth Full Moon too.
LOOKING FORWARD to continuing the Celebration of JUDAH'S LIFE and what he stood for. His CHANTS of "PEACE and LOVE" is what brought us all together many, many years ago as he was the KING of the drum circles and What an awesome Drum Circle we had at Boynton Beach Inlet. cont..........
So sad that Brother Judah is no longer with us. He had a wonderful energy about him, and what a drummer! The drum community will surely miss Brother Judah. Now he and Steve can jam in the great hereafter.

An astonishing result Tues. 8/10/10. Going into the LW city commission's working meeting, we'd all been afraid the city was hostile to the drum circle but when we arrived they'd already been considering the issue quite favorably amongst Mayor Varela and Commissioners Jennings and Mulvehill. Just stay off the beach during the extended turtle-nesting season (March through October) and submit a permit application. Amazing to see government work appropriately. How refreshing !
