What do Community, Democracy and Transformation of Consciousness have in Common?

  • Jul 27, 2014 · 6:00 PM
  • Lotus Lodge Community & Learning Center

If we envision all of Asheville our "intentional" community, where do we begin? I believe the place to start - at least where my passion is focused, is by catalyzing our own neighborhoods (of mostly strangers) into true, caring, collaborative communities. And we can do this with a key tool: Assets-Based Community-Development (ABCD).

Ever heard of it?

ABCD actually has been around for over 30 years – it was what Michelle and Barak Obama studied years ago – and continues to be used to transform people’s consciousness and lives in communities around the world. We need it here in Asheville!

Some city officials and leaders in our community have been learning about it and are interested in learning more and implementation. But they need citizen involvement – us and our neighbors, working in teams.

After the presentation, we will have a facilitated discussion on the ideas and possibilities for our area. Please join us for what I hope will be an inspiring and hope-inducing evening for our future. Bring a covered dish to share, a beverage (if want other than tea), your curiosity and your imagination!
