The Community of All Souls is an intentional community of spiritual pilgrims who gather together to enrich our own lives and those of others, and transform the world around us.
We are a community that is ancient in its roots, rich in its tradition and contemporary in its form.
We welcome and are open to all people of goodwill.
Our intent is to deepen meaning and purpose in our lives and to foster mutual respect and caring. We seek to embody and share what is most authentically and positively human in light of what is most authentically and positively Christian.
This is what it means to be "catholic." We are, therefore, a Catholic community not affiliated with the institution of Roman Catholicism.
Community of All Souls IS…
The purpose of the Community is to draw people to create an integrated, and share an embodied, experience of Christianity. This is reflected in what is dynamic, lived, vibrant and grounded in the real lives of real people. It is intentionally welcoming, and hospitable toward all while being rooted in the ancient faith and worship of the Catholic people.
The purpose of the Community of All Souls is to be authentic, honest, open, and in a very real sense provisional. As a result, we venture to make our way through life by faith, unafraid of living in the world and of the Church in its sometimes seemingly monolithic form.
The purpose of the Community is to seek transformation for each of us as persons and as a common body into something that is increasingly more true, beautiful, good and One with God. As a result, it is also to contribute to the transformation of the world.
The Community of All Souls IS NOT…
The purpose of the Community is not to lure devout people away from Roman Catholicism. There is no need to do this. Catholicism is big enough for all of us and has always allowed for various expressions, some larger and more powerful and some, like us, less so.
The purpose of the Community is not to constantly and repeatedly lament or bemoan what’s wrong in the Catholic Church. It is not to create an “us” versus “them.” It is not to argue about how “we” are right, and “they” (whoever “they” may be) are wrong. It is not about polemics.
The purpose of the Community is not about blame or to get back at anyone or anything, including the institutional Church.
The purpose of the Community is not to be, to appear to be, or become, associated with the Diocese of Phoenix. As a Catholic community constituted separately, with the approval and assistance of a Catholic bishop of another jurisdiction, we simply have neither the need nor the desire to be endorsed or approved by the local Roman Catholic bishop.
The Community of All Saints welcomes you!
