Compass Riders is NOT a group for the beginner motorcycle rider, OR real slow riders, you need to not only have several years experience of riding your machine, but also experience in riding it within a group... Also, for safety reasons, Compass Riders is a semi-private group at this time, which means that after reading all the information below you still decide to put in a "request to join" you will need to come out on a ride I lead with one of the open charter motorcycle riding groups like, Folsom HOG, or Sacramento HOG, or Sacramento Road Cruisers, to see if you fit in and are a safe enough rider before approving your request to join. My rides that are posted on the HOG calendars will say my name as "Road Captain" or "Ride Leader" right on the post page, and my rides posted on the Sacramento Road Cruiser meetup site, will say right under the name of the ride post= "hosted by Michael Paul", So it is pretty easy to find one of my rides and come out and meet us.
This group is for riders who actually ride their machines at least once a month or more within a group setting. The primary purpose is the camaraderie of the ride, the friendship of individuals & couples that develop within the group, and respect & safety to all others while enjoying the miles we ride.
We usually avoid any major freeway riding when possible, and concentrate more on the clean mountain air and scenic roads we all love to ride, but we do ride at current everyday traffic speed, which is about speed limit plus 5 to 15 mph, depending on road conditions and the speed of traffic on each, we are not usually in any hurry to get to our destination's, and would rather take in and enjoy the scenery as we pass by, The rides and routes usually include break stops each and every hour, lunch at some mountain grill or cafe, or a brown bag lunch at a river or lakes edge, We also have a few long time members work as our road crew most rides, so we can block through intersections, and are as safe as we can be, we also do not ever leave anyone behind, and most all rides are round trip, driving back by the spot we met at in the morning for those that may not be familiar with some areas we travel too, and we do a few over night or weekend long rides each year as well.
While we are mostly all Bikers at heart & the majority of us ride big twin Harley or large cruiser bikes, we do not discriminate against other brands of motorcycles, We are not a ‘club’ or an ‘organization, so If you have delusions of an "outlaw or 1%er M/C club" type experience, you will be disappointed. ;) There are no dues to pay, patches to buy, or meetings to attend, We just ride, A-LOT !!!, with anywhere from 8 to 12 or so rides each month that weather permits.
All bike brand's & model's are welcome, But you do need to know how to ride your Machine, as we are not here to train new riders, so you will need to go get your beginner to group riding experience elsewhere, and safety is number one at all times.
Bring a sense of humor! & leave all drama of daily life at home, as it has NO place on our rides.
Best if you have at least a few years riding experience as riding in a group can be challenging, and we will not ruin the groups ride by constantly reeling in stragglers.
It’s your hand on the throttle! Ride Safe, for your sake and for those around you!
Safe travels and good roads to us all.
