The fastest growing spiritual group in America is those who identify as unaffiliated, or spiritual but not religious. That's us. Many of us have a background in Christianity but find it no longer fits us very well. It's not so much that we have rejected spirituality, we just have a hard time finding it in the institutional Church. Most of us have been exposed to other spiritual traditions, including Buddhism, Hinduism, Indigenous Spirituality, Wicca, New Thought, and others. We find things in many traditions that complement our search for Truth, and incorporate them into our personal and group spiritual practice. We have formed a spiritual community where questions are welcome and where we look for answers together, rather than having them dispensed from on high.
So what do we do when we gather?
On Thursdays we have two Insight Meditation classes. The morning class sometimes has a shorter meditation and a longer time for sharing and discussion. The evening class generally has a thirty minute meditation session.
On Sundays we have a different type of gathering. Loosely based on a Christian worship service, we have music, time for meditation, one reading from the Bible and one from an Eastern tradition, a spiritual talk, and a contemplative communion. There are refreshments afterwards, and on most Sundays we have a book study at 2:30. Check our schedule for the details of any particular day, including the book we are studying and where we are in the book. Feel free to join us for any part of the day. Newcomers are always welcome!
We hope you will check us out! Feel free to contact us if you have any questions!
