Both Leon Russell & BB KING are doing FREE shows--BB at Brookside Plaza 220 Vesey St, Leon at Rockefeller Park. My guess is BB will get a bigger crowd.

Oops..Or Jay perhaps? lol I see Jons' going to Leon Russell.
Hey Jonathan or anyone, I cant get to the show til 7pmish. Is there a # to reach you so I can try to meetup? I can send mine if you'd like. I'm meeting a friend there at 7. I'd like to hang out with everyone but if you're getting seats than no worries. Dont expect anyone to save seats. Hope to see ya'll later.

Good to catch him now cause he's way up in age. The band opening is great too..James Hunter. I might have to meet ya'll at the show around 7.
Just saw BB recently in Nola but always up to see the older cats still playing. Plus James Hunter is awesome. Though tough decision cause Leon Russell is a classic that i've never seen. Dang..chances are BB but we'll see. Next day is great too!!
I might switch to Leon since I just saw BB in Nola 2 months ago and have seen him 4 times before. Probably will decide wed. and if I switch i'll change my rsvp. Tough decision!!

Hi Russell. Thanks for posting this. Geert and I will go to the Leon Russell performance. Maybe we'll see you there. Kellie
It's cool that we're all meeting at the Shake Shack for both shows!! The more, the merrier!

I'm organizing another meet up at the same time.

Boy, all these different conversations are just all over the place. I'll check out our site and see what's going on. Geert and I are going to see Leon Russell.
Kellie... I'm also going to Leon Russell... want to meet for drinks/food beforehand? Know any good spots in Battery Park City?
Hi Jonathan. I'd love to join you for drinks, but have a doc appointment prior to the show, so I'm not sure what time I'm getting downtown. Our fearless leader, Geert will be joining us. Let's touch base prior and figure out how to meet up (haha). Mike, make up your mind already. Geez. :-P Kellie

Mike, if you decide to go to Leon instead, let me know...
Hey Jon, Cool. I'll let you know. I might decide on Leon cause i've seen BB 5 times now. I also just noticed I double booked myself for the 10th cause I also rsv'd for the philharmonic in prospect park. I probably will decide the day before.
Yeah... I'll catch the Philharmonic in Central Park on Monday, 7/15.
Oh..ok..I didnt know they were there on the 15th. Cool..maybe i'll wait and see them there. Prospect park might be a little less crowded though. There's almost too much cool free shows happening. Been to 6 already!
see who at Prospect?
NOTE I CHANGED THIS TO B.B.--If you are leaning towards Leon, RSVP for that meetup.

Well, we can just make this the B.B King meet-up since there is now a Leon Russel on. Since both shows are in walking distance lets just have everyone meet up at Shake Shack off of Murray St and go from there.
Jay changed the location to Shake Shack

Unfortunately, someone needs to pull the plug on this MeetUp... it can't be for 2 different shows in 2 different locations!!
I'VE CREATED ONE FOR LEON RUSSELL... If you can convert this one to be for B.B. King, that would be great... else, it should be removed (with a new one for B.B. King created)
Wow... this is a tough choice for most music fans... for me, I've seen B.B. King 4 times already, but have NEVER seen Leon Russell, so I guess that I'm going there!!
Just so ya'll know...BB isnt playing anywhere close to as much or as rockin like 20 years ago. Go if you wanna see a classic original bluesman. But for a more upbeat raucous show Leon would be the way to go. This is a damn hard decision.

Correct. BB is 87. But Leon isn't exactly a house of fire either.
Thats true. Its definitely a hard choice.
I think Leon will be less packed if you are not into crowds. I went to see Buddy Guy and Neko Case there last year and had great turn outs. If you get there early enough you can nab a table to sit down at and just chill with some drinks and food to nosh on. I also think there is a couple outside restaurant in the area where you can easily listen to the show and see from the back.

I'm leaning towards BB as well but open to either one. I actually prefer standing at shows. But if the tables are close that works fine. James Hunter is a great opening act. I might go the next day too for los lobos and los lonely boys. Both great bands!!
I am going to B.B. King
Both on the same day?
yes, they are both the same day. I have not decided which show to go to yet.
