Small Group Meeting

This meeting has been postponed from Tuesday to Thursday because the Concord Library closed due to the snow.

When do we support the goals of a religion and when not?

Humanists support the separation of church and state. But we also believe that the state should behave so as support people in need, also a central tenet of most religions.

How do we identify religious goals we do not support?

I really enjoyed a welcoming introduction to Concord Area Humanists with a broad and congenial discussion of many issues with Paul Jameson

Lorraine Smith and I had a good two-hour discussion about a range of issues including separation of church and state and family members with differing religious views. I wondered why so few attended the discussion; I'm sure the weather was part of it.

I can't come on Thursdays, sadly. Have a great discussion.

This opinion piece is by an American orthodox Jew who disagrees with Zionism because it conflicts with the separation of church and state. Paste

Religious American Jews who take a stand against Israel are likely to find themselves in the minority among family and friends.

I believe that our concern about the separation of church and state stems arises from a concern that one group may dictate a policy with which we do not agree by claiming a mandate from a "higher power". No argument is possible with this "higher power", and the group need not justify it's position.

A major topic will center on what we mean by separation of church and state.
