I am scheduling this one several months in advance to allow me (us) time buy more solar panels and batteries. I will also need to coordinate this with our groups radio operators. By then I should have 6 solar panels and 4 marine batteries. We might also be able to turn this into a campout event. I have a porta potty but I don't have a privy shelter yet. Hopefully someone else in the group can provide that.
Great weather!... Too bad the other 15 (out of 17) folks who said they were going never came.... I set up and operated my portable Amateur Radio station (VHF/UHF) and was re ady to answer all questions about "Ham Radio".
Hi Douglas, I received your above post. There was no event scheduled for today, but shows the date to be last year in Sept. Maybe this needed revision?? :/Anyway, hope you do another one, I am interested.
We may not be able to stop job losses, bankrupt city & state budgets, cutbacks in essential government services, bank failures, worldwide economic collapse, civil unrest, power grid failures, increased severe weather occurrences or other natural and man-made disasters but we can have a back-up plan!
The purpose of our group is to get people together to learn and practice basic and advanced survival skills, gardening, foraging, alternative energy, emergency preparedness skills, homesteading skills, emergency and natural medical skills, self-defense skills, emergency evacuation, shelter building and a wide range of other skills necessary for off the grid sustainable self-sufficiency.
The group will operate on a non-discriminatory basis. The group is open to anyone regardless of race, religion, gender, age, and all-inclusive (from complete beginner to experienced survivalist/homesteader).
Along with meeting and skill building events we will also have a good range family friendly tours and outings. Many of the skills will be useful to reduce your cost of living. I will be using the Meetup sponsor program to help equip actively participating members and to help pay Meetup dues.
