Fall Hike and Apple Picking

Join the Young Professionals from both the Connecticut and New York City chapters for first ever joint hike!

Take in the crisp fall air at Lucius Pond Ordway/Devil’s Den Preserve in Weston, Connecticut, on a 2 – 3 hour hike led by Sally Harold, director of migratory fish projects for The Nature Conservancy in Connecticut and an expert on Saugatuck forest lands.

Devil’s Den’s 20-mile trail system winds past dramatic rocky crests, outcroppings, and cliffs forming high ledges partly covered with grasses, mosses, and lichens. More than 500 types of trees and wildflowers are featured at the preserve, including the beautiful pink lady's slipper, cardinal flower, and Indian pipe. Devil's Den is home to red fox, bobcat, coyote, Eastern copperhead, wood duck, ruffed grouse, pileated woodpecker and more than 140 other bird species.

After several hours spent hiking and exploring Devil’s Den, we will make the short drive to Silverman’s Farm in Easton for fresh apples, cider, donuts and gifts. Apple picking is also available if the season allows.

Registration is required by Oct. 16. Please email Cara Chancellor at [masked] to hold your place.

We’ll see you there!

NOTE: There is no cost to attend, but you pay for what you pick at Silverman’s.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
