WOULD YOU SET YOURSELF ON A MAYOR JOURNEY WHERE YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHERE YOU’RE GOING?

During my work as a life coach I often hear people say that they don’t have a real sense of drive, that they are not offering the best of who they are to the world or that they luck motivation. In most cases the only reason why they feel that way is that they simply haven’t spent enough time deciding what they really want to create in their life and formulating a plan to achieve it.

In other words, they have never gone through a formal process of goal setting. In the end would you set yourself on a major journey where you have no idea where you’re going?

FOCUS YOUR ATTENTION LIKE A LASER BEAM

Goal setting is a powerful process to focus on your ideal future scenario, and to motivate yourself to turn that vision into reality.

The process of setting goals helps you choose your destination as well as your direction. Knowing exactly what you want to create, in fact helps you concentrate your efforts in one single direction like a laser beam, and makes you immune from distractions that can, so easily, lead you astray.

THE IMPORTANCE OF SETTING (S.M.A.R.T.) GOAL

Goal setting involves establishing Specific, Measurable, Achievable and Time-targeted (S.M.A.R.T.) goals. It has been said that Goal setting capitalize on the human brain's powers.

“Goal setting is in fact used by top-level athletes, successful business-people in all fields. Setting goals gives you long-term vision and short-term motivation. It focuses your acquisition of knowledge, and helps you to organize your time and your resources."

"By setting sharp, clearly defined goals, you can measure and take pride in the achievement of those goals, and you'll see forward progress in what might previously have seemed a long pointless grind.

You will also raise your self-confidence, as you recognize your own ability and competence in achieving the goals that you've set.” - Mind Tools

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THIS SEMINAR

- Why it's all going to be a lot fun:-)! (your Fun!)

You got it right Konrad, and that was the main message of the evening. Setting goals without first clarifying who you are (your identity, your "mission") and what's important to you in life (your values) isn't very useful and it is the reason why people often don't feel motivated even when they have specific goals. But when you can see those goals as step stones towards the full expression of your identity and talents; and you define your action plan according to your values, the entire journey become and extension of who you are, a glorious celebration of it:-)!

Yes, it was good, I enjoyed it. It seemed like the beginning of a process for me. It was quite challenging to ignore self imposed limitations but ultimately I think it was a most worthwhile exercise. Would be interested in experiencing the same format in a smaller group or circle.

I understand Susie how difficult it may be at first to clarify things about who you are and what you want, but I can tel you that the more you go through it, the easier and rewarding it becomes. So well done! and I'm looking forwad to hearing more about your journey!

Very interesting approach to defining your goals. Before I was defining my goals in a standard way.. and not surprisingly lots of them wasn't important/aligned with true me, so I didn't chase them. This time I know in my guts that what I wrote is very important for me and comes from true me. I have really enjoyed the process and found out a lot about myself and what in life is important to me. Especially, I did like the completion part, where you imagine yourself at the end having what you want. I think that without closure you will be running around and trying to catch constantly moving/changing target. Will definitely use more visualisation in my everyday life and work on my goals. Max - thank you for sharing this method and for the evening.

The evening will be experiential and results oriented. So don't forget to bring a pen and paper (although there will be plenty of them available), because you will guided through a series of powerful and practical exercises. And also...expect to thoroughly enjoy yourself:-)!
