Willamette Cove Nature Stroll

This will be a short and relaxed ramble through this restored riparian area.

For those of you with health issues, who cannot go fast or far, this is a great opportunity to get outside and hopefully we'll see some wildlife.

I agree that listening to the birds was the highlight!

Loved the quiet time to listen to the birds.

Nothing better than being with like-minded people out in nature on an Oregon morning. We should re-visit mid summer once all the flora has popped out.

Awesome walk! Loved to listen to the birds and see the bald eagle and re tail hawks! Wonderful conversations!

Friendly people, peaceful stroll, great out-of-the-way spot in the middle of the city. Wish I'd brought a long lens for the amazing raptor encounters we had; I am still hear those spectacular hawk calls. Graffiti art was amazing, as well as the off-the-grid moorage complete with pirates!

Interesting! I particularly loved the hearing the birds and seeing the bald eagle. Nice easy Saturday morning stroll

What a surprise, I had no idea any of that was there! I really enjoyed hearing the birds and seeing the bald eagle!

I am sorry to report that I could not find the location this morning. I should have been there on time but my gps failed to work and even with a map in hand, I could not get there. Boo hiss.

St. John's is confusing because of the way the roads twist around the center of town, but if you found Safeway, you were just blocks away!

I enjoyed this trail that I had never seen before, and enjoyed the company. Thanks!

What a great walk, we saw a eagle and 2 red tailed hawks. Good conversation and a pace that allowed us to appreciate the beauty around. I'm so glad I came.

Thank you! I always love exploring a part of Portland I've never seen before. The only thing better than the river, birds, pirates and grafeti was the company. :)

Surprising symphony of bird song was highlight of the hike for me though the eagle sighting and nesting pair of hawks (?) a close second. Thanks for stopping to listen.

Sadly, I'm not going to make it. Up until 7 minutes ago I thought I still had over an hour to get ready, but my daughter says to me that I'm going to be late (still in my pj's) so I say, no it's not even 9 yet and she says it's almost 10! For the life of me I cannot understand why my cell phone says it's an hour earlier today than what it really is! It's my only clock, other than the computer, which luckily my daughter was on. I'm so disappointed all of a sudden to find that I won't be making it. Hope you all enjoy the beauty and community. I'll try again another time.

Beth, Im sorry you are having trouble with this. Have you clicked on the map located above? ( says "edit map"). In addition to the lat/ longs it is now showing on my screen an equivalent address of those coordinates as[masked] N. Richmond Ave.

    March 22, 2013

  • Roamy

Sorry I won't be able to make this one - this opens up a spot for someone else now.

    March 20, 2013

  • pete z.

I'm sorry Beth there is no exact address- it is at the end of a road dead ending on vacant land. Look at the map in description above and try putting in the lat/longs as a destination. (If you can get to the eastside you can easily find this place). MLK north to Lombard, west to Richmond -or- Willamette Blvd west to Richmond. -pz

Hannah, dogs would be ok, but be aware that others walk their dogs here too off leash . Also, we have 20 people signed up and if others in our group bring dogs too, it could get nuts. I've just written a note to Su to try to limit this group to the 20 we have signed up now. It could get unwieldy otherwise.

My first hike with the group as well! I will be coming from Milwaukie in the south if anyone wants a ride from that area, or from SE/NE since that's on the way.
