I happen to know a fantastic spot just north of Skyline Boulevard and NW Thompson Road that includes a rambling sidewalk, a park of sorts, a hidden trail, a ritzy neighborhood, and a view so expansive, you can see from the West Hills to Banks with one look. Photographers flock there for sunsets. Several walking loop options from 1.5 to 5+ miles, some steep, some relatively flat, mostly paved. We can choose which route to take as we go along but count on 3 miles of easy walking. Forest Park access is just on the other side of Skyline, so feel free to extend your hike at the end.
Indoor restrooms a possibility, outdoor port-o-potty guaranteed. Infinite free parking. Suitable for any weather except ice storms (Skyline Boulevard). As a friend of the management, I have personal permission to linger on the premises after dark.
Bring: water bottle, weather appropriate gear, footwear for both asphalt and mud, camera if the weather affords a view, binoculars for same. Cocoa/tea in thermos for afterwards highly recommended.
Special request: please leave your dog at home for this one.
