I grew up in a rural area and spent much of my childhood playing in the woods and outdoors in general, so my enjoyment and comfort in natural settings goes way back. Spending time in woods and near water evokes in me an internal quiet and calm. Seeing birds and other critters, hearing their songs and noises, noticing light and color, plants and flowers, smelling fresh, fragrant air – all of this makes me feel rejuvenated, relaxed, and happy.
In addition to nature walks, some things I enjoy doing with my time include tai chi, qigong, learning to play conga drums, reading, chatting with friends over a good portland microwbrewed IPA, and enjoying Portland's many wonderful restaurants.
