Let's meet at the intersection of Marshall Road and 66th. I actually like parking there more than the main lot at Marshal Mesa because it's darker and more remote. We can walk the Cowdrey Draw trail west into the park or we can be law abiding citizens and just walk up 66th towards West Coal Creek Drive. There are no houses and almost no traffic at all. There were a few cars that came up the road the last few times we were there, but I think they were just kids looking for a place to park and do whatever ornery things kids do on an empty road on a Friday night. Play chess or Parcheesi I assume.
When you turn east on Eldorado Springs Drive (Highway 170) from Broadway (Highway 93) turn right at the stop sign which is only 1/8 of a mile or so from the big intersection with the gas station and the light. The road only goes south (right) and is hard to spot. Look for electric poles heading up the hill as a landmarker. I'll leave my hazards on which you will be able to see from Eldorado Springs Drive.
We will hike in silence for 20 to 30 minutes and then meditate for 20 to 45 minutes depending on how long the group wants to sit. We'll hike back to the parking lot in silence and whoever wants to discuss their experience can stay and chit chat. There are several routes we can take.
Bring water, flashlights/headlamps and extra layers of clothes. I will bring small rugs for anyone who wants one. Bring a cushion to sit on if sitting cross legged directly on the ground is painful for you.
Please call if you have a hard time finding the trail head or are going to be late. [masked] -Nick
