Announcing a new Meetup for Contemplative Hiking Along the Front Range! What
: Lunar Eclipse Viewing at Fiske Planetarium When
: Monday, December 20,[masked]:00 PM Where
: (A location has not been chosen yet.)
Ok, this isn't a hike, but this has to do with nature and the solstice and it's so cool that I had to schedule a MeetUp!
On December 20, right before the winter solstice which occurs Dec. 21 at 4:38 pm, there will be a combined full moon and lunar eclipse. If we have clear skies that evening, let's meet up at the Fiske Planetarium at the University of Colorado, which is offering a free 45-minute presentation and viewing of the eclipse with binoculars and telescopes.
Here's a Daily Camera article about the lunar event and the presentation: http://www.dailycamera.com/news/ci_16779021 I'm assuming this event is weather permitting and it will be canceled if there are too many clouds.
LET'S MEET at the front door of the planetarium about 15 minutes before 10 pm. I'll be wearing a red coat. Here are directions and parking instructions to the planetarium: http://fiske.colorado.edu/directions.php
This MeetUp's co-organizer Donna and I are also hosting a winter solstice night hike the next day, on December 21st, so look for that on the calendar and RSVP.
