Facebook

Yes! Facebook is hosting the Meetup for our first South Bay event and the program is awesome.

Hear Facebook's own Diane Murphy talk about how Facebook is developing a content strategy based on compassion to help people resolve conflict. Beer, champagne, treats and chit-chat will be served after the talk. To save your spot at this must-see meet-and-drink, please RSVP by Friday, January 11th. (We're closing RSVPs on that day.)

We have 100 seats available, so please only RSVP if you know you will be able to make this event. Event runs from 6 to 8.

Thanks for a superb night. Social reporting was a great example of how you have to have the strategy informing the content to really get it right. That's when each word makes a difference. It's not just copywriting!

Can the deck from last night be shared? Tx!

Great topic, well presented. The devil is in the details. Taking the time to measure and having the ability to iterate through changes pays off for all.

Terrifically infomative--and a lot of fun! I came away impressed with the challenges the Faceboook Content Strategy team address, and how much attention is paid to the development of effective, compassionate social connections.

    Hi all —

If you were there last night and have any questions abou the A Book Apart discount on Karen McGrane's book "Content Strategy for Mobile," just message me for a discount code to save 15% on her book anytime in the next week.

It was a thrill to visit the Facebook campus and I was really moved by Diane Murphy's presentation. The work on compassionate communication and mediation—within the system—brought me to tears. Thank you, Diane.

Thank you so much for hosting the event! It was great to see such a cogent example of how Facebook and content strategy are impacting users and their experiences on a daily basis.

Hello fellow content strategists! I am taking the Caltrain to the event but am looking for a ride back to San Francisco afterwards (Mission district). If anyone has space in their car and is heading back to the city, I would love to tag along!

I'm confused by the home page for the Facebook meetup. It lists 107 attending and 18 spots left. However if one clicks on the 'waitlist' button, it says I'm on the waitlist, but does not say how many are ahead of me. Somehow it seems that the numbers on the home page should balance.

Hi Blaine, the cut off for the RSVPs was last week. Those who signed up and cancelled will not be replaced in the interim period (between the cut off for the RSVP and the event tonight). We purposely offered more spaces to this event than space was available to ensure the maximum number of attendees, realizing that there would be cancellations. However, unfortunately this means those on the waitlist will not be able attend. That said, we hope to have another event at Facebook in the future, so stay tuned! /Frank

  • Greg H.

On the wait list. Will I be notified if there is an opening?

    January 12, 2013

    • Marissa M.

Hi Greg - As a spot opens up it should auto-manically populate you into the "going" group. Anna/Frank, please let me know if this is not the case.

      January 14, 2013

    • Frank M.

      Yes this is the case.

Does anyone know how to get to the Facebook office from the Palo alto or Menlo Park Caltrain station?

    January 14, 2013

    • Marissa M.

Hi Nandita, we do have shuttles from Caltrain, however drives can be very particular and even if you are attending an event, since they are transportation for employee's might not let you on. Taxi would be the best option. If you see a Shuttle driver, feel free to ask. The sign for the PA Caltrain is Green and Menlo Caltrain is Red.

      January 14, 2013

    • Nandita M.

Thanks Marissa, I'll probably just take a taxi.

Looks like my Tuesday is tight and I was fortunate enough to hear Diane give this talk at CSForum 2012 in October (it was great!) so I'll give up my slot. :)
